CUBS are 41-30 when they GIDP.... 38-20 when they don't

CUBS have GIDP'd 27 times in their last 23 games.... their opponents have GIDP'd 7 times

Go CUBS !!!

That's quite a disparity between DPs. Of course, the underlying aspect of this is that the Cubs offense tends to be on base a lot more often than the opponents also. Not 3 times more on base, but more all the same.

So I leave with 1 run, come back with 10 and 3 Jimmy XBH's. That'll work.

Although Ted can really stop giving up homers.

I hate to nitpick tonight, but this is what I'm tired of from Lilly. You know he's good for this type of thing pretty much every time out.

I'm not sure he can. He's a big flyball pitcher, and this park isn't exactly spacious.

Those things tend to happen when you're just throwing the ball over the plate with a 9-run lead. I think I can live with that.

I'm projecting this to October and frankly, I'm not looking forward to a tight game with Ted pitching to, say, Manny.

Lilly since April 17: 12-4 (13 after tonight), 3.60 ERA.

Damn you, good numbers!!

By then, though, the Cubs would have a 3-0 series lead, at the least, and there's no way the Cubs would drop 3 in a row, 2 at home, with Dempster, Zambrano and Harden going. ;)

He's our number 4 starter. What playoff teams have better number 4 starters? Just because Lilly gives up a lot of home runs doesn't mean he's bad. 3 runs on 3 homers is the same as 3 runs on scattered basehits.
