I love how McLouth doesn't play against the Crew, but you can bet your bottom dollar he'll be ready for the Cubs.

He didn't play much against the against the Cards either.

I find that to be interesting, don't you?

Doumit didn't play yesterday against the Crew either. I'll bet he plays all 3 against us.

Great work guys, we have proof of a conspiracy! Now all we need to figure out is a motive.

My point isn't that it's a conspiracy per se, but that teams definitely gear up for the Cubs. We get everyone's best effort. Other teams don't.

They're still mad that Bobby Hill didn't pan out for them.

Doumit's a catcher. He probably won't play the day game Wednesday.

If the Cubs go 16-16 the rest of the way, the Brewers would need to go 20-11 to tie us for the division, 21-10 to win it.

If the Cubs go 20-12 the rest of the way (our projected finish based on our current winning %), 24-7 to tie, 25-6 to win

Honestly, if the Brewers go 25-6 the rest of the season, they deserve the division more than we do. That said, they won't

Because you say so? Teams playing with no fan support all year, dank dark stadiums, suddenly the Cubs come to town, or they go to Wrigley where they know it's going to be packed to the gills? They gear up for it. For some of these guys it's the most exciting baseball they'll see for a month or more.

Winning 62% of your games will do that.

I don't. I was merely pointing out he's been sick. Plus, he has a .635OPS for August.

Too bad nobody goes to Brewers games. The Pirates might have geared up for them.

He was directing it at me. And I do believe teams "get up" to play the Cubs. Not because it's a conspiracy, but because it's quite natural to want to play your best against -- let's face it -- one of the most exciting, well attended and funded teams in all of sports.

Let's win 90% of the rest of our series (tie, at worst, the two 4-gamers [vs PHI / @ NYM]), finishing 21-11 over our last 32, and make MIL go 24-7 just to tie us.

But as it was basically just pointed out, the Brewers are a likely playoffs-bound team with a lot of heat right now and who are drawing huge crowds at home. Why would a team lay down for them just to stack up for the Cubs?

Sure, but they don't have near the name or the support of the Cubs. If this was the Cards, then I might agree with you.

This can't be for real.

It all gets balanced out by Atlanta, the Mets and the entire NL West laying down for the Cubs and getting up for other teams.

You can't count the Mets because they've only played the Cubs twice this season.

We all know about the incidents with Doug Eddings and the White Sox in the 2005 ALCS and now today.

However, there was a third incident either earlier this year or last year involving Eddings making a favorable call for the White Sox. I'm not sure if AJ was involved in that one though. Does anybody remember this? I'm busting my brain, but nothing comes up ...

EDIT: I think I found it. Doug Eddings was the home plate ump during the Thome/Quentin double steal controversy on May 8th.

i'm thinking that it has more to do with the fact that doug eddings is a horrible umpire than anything about him favoring the white sox.

Charlie Manuel runs out of pitch hitters so he had to use Cole Hamels to hit in a crucial spot.

And gets bailed out by Pedro Feliz
