This is completely random and unimportant, but something that I just noticed is that Harden was a 17th round draft pick. What exactly were teams missing for those first 16 rounds? I know this is hindsight, but still...I would have expected that he'd be a bit higher up than that.

Especially the fact that it was the 2000 draft, which was notoriously bad. Aside from #1 pick Adrien Gonzalez, Adam Wainwright whao was like #28 or 29 was the only player in the 1st round of that draft whose made any kind of major league impact. IE Luis Montanez.

Chase Utley was the Phillies 1st round pick in the 2000 draft. He turned out to be ok

OK, you have Adrian Gonzales at 1, Rocco Baldelli at 6, Utley at 15, and Wainwright at 29, but look at the rest of round 1

Is that really that different from most drafts?

I was thinking that was a low number and then I went and looked at the names. Gonzalez, Baldelli, Borchard, Utley, Bonser, Dumatrait, and Wainwright have all had big league contributions and most baseball fans paying attention would have heard of them. I think 7/30 making contributions isn't a bad ratio as much of a crapshoot as the ML draft is.

Also nice to see I've never heard of the Cards 1st rounder from that year.

Edit: How did Adrian Gonzalez (Marlins) and Chris Young (Pirates) both end up in Texas? And man, there was nobody in that draft after the 1st round. I think I counted 4-5 big leaguers in rounds 2 and 3.

The 2000 draft is considered rather weak.

My question is....if you're Montreal/Washington how do you go from stealing Chris Young for Matt Herges, and then giving him away to Texas for Einar Diaz?

What game are those from? ESPN doing a story on tonight's game or are they from earlier in the season?

Those are probably from the Milwaukee series.

Note the grey pants and the surroundings, definitely not a home game.

Derwood summed it up, I didn't pay attention to anything other than E.A.
