So no one answered my question. To everyone whining and complaining and justifying Brenly's ripping of Soriano, do you REALLY think he's gonna do that in October in the playoffs?

I'm taking the silence in response to this question as the deep seeded knowledge, that allthough it's bush league, everyone knows it's not going to happen when the games are do or die.

This is a stupid question. First off, I have no idea. He's done similar things multiple times. But why does it only matter if it happens in October? What if it actually does cost them a game that affects the date they clinch and forces them to use pitchers they wanted to rest.

Anybody getting on Brenly is being absolutely ridiculous.

Wow, Chip is bitter.

Amidst the "Let's go Cubbies!" chants, the Braves color guy said, "you gotta give them credit. What a following."

And Chip says, "yeah, the bandwagon is full in mid-August."

Yeah, thats ridiculous. I've been to Atlanta a lot to watch the cubs, good teams and bad. There is always a huge cubs population in attendance.

Id expect that from some announcers, but not Chip. Youd think hed know better. Its not our fault he jumped onto a sinking ship.

Whatever, lets do it again tonight.

Chip's pissed becaues now without his Grandpa or Dad around, there isn't anyone to get him jobs anymore.

i mean, yeah, it's bad, but i wouldn't classify it as a big deal in an 8-2 game.

It's a big enough deal that Brenly is more than justified in criticizing Soriano. Not big enough to carry on all week.

And as a side note, it was big enough to get Atlanta to throw at his head,

I mentioned this earlier, but Dave said he thought it was because Soriano stole second with a huge lead, not because of the hustle thing. I think that's a better explanation.

On what pitch was Soriano running..the one that Kosuke walked on? Because Soriano didn't actually steal 2nd base today.

I always thought it was weird how casually he spoke about Harry after he died, but he had the same tone talking about his dad. He's like a robot or something. A very dorky robot.

I have no reason to believe that Soriano will treat October any differently. I'm not confident enough to say that he would have hustled down the line.

This is about as meaningful to me as Aram hustling.

They were up 8-2. In my opinion the reaction to Soriano was pretty stupid. IF it was a close game, I'd be more concerned.

Other than he's a competitive athlete and it's the playoffs, I'm sure the reasoning on which you base your assumption is more sound.

My reasoning is a pattern of behavior exhibited over the past couple seasons. Hopefully he proves me wrong, but I think Soriano's ego may outweigh his competitiveness.

My reaction was to the idiotic bashing of Brenly more than Soriano. Soriano was wrong, Brenly was right. People blasting Brenly are being ridiculous.

I hope Lou retailates in Game 2. You have to protect Soriano, this is just nuts.

I'm more concerned about winning the game.

Why? The Cubs are leading the division with Milwaukee playing great baseball behind them. It's not worth getting a player suspended for the notion of "protecting a player."

I hope they don't. It would be very dumb to waste a pitcher who is going to to get thrown out in a DH day when arms are needed. Nothing is gained from "protecting" Soriano by throwing at somebody else. Wait until tomorrow if need be.

Soriano also got thrown at because of it. Would you have the same opinion if that ball had actually hit him and Soriano got hurt and had to miss a month or two?

If there's a big lead either way though, trot someone out there and peg 'em. Right in the back.

so have someone worhtless like Cotts throw at a Brave. You have to protect your players.

First of all, Cotts isn't worthless. And most importantly, how does throwing at a Braves player protect Soriano?
