What is the TV and date for the season opener?

 

CSN - October 10th, vs NY Rangers

 

I was going to this game until I saw the MLB postseason schedule, now I hope there's still a reason not to go.

Just wait til you hear how loud our home games are this year... it was already good in years past when the team was terrible, but this year it's going to be Wrigley in a box.

I will make a gamethread on Friday for any of those not watching, or better yet for those of you that are. Would be nice to get a good crowd.

 

It's against the Rangers (who are 2-0-0 already) but they will be flying back from Sweden.

I'll be trying to catch as much of this game as I can, but a few of my friends are in a Battle of the Bands our school is holding. Hopefully the Hawks take a good lead so I can leave and not worry.

I've never cared about hockey and have never had an allegiance to any team. Today I went to the pre-season finale between the Caps and Bruins in DC, and I am now officially a Caps fan. The game was intense, the crowd was fun, the action was good, there was a Guinness/Smithwick's/Harp booth right outside my seats, and this team will never ever be able to hurt me the way the Cubs just did. I'm sold.

 

Sorry, I know it's the blackhawks thread - not trying to troll. Just new to hockey. Speaking of which, I have a few questions:

 

Has overtime always been reduced to 4 on 4? Has penalty box time always ended if the power play team scores a goal? I could have sworn Nylander still had 36 seconds left in the box, and when the Bruins scored he was back on the ice. Is this a rule change? When did it happen? Do they still do multiple overtimes in the regular season or post-season, or do they always go to penalty shots after the first overtime?

4-on-4 OT is relatively new, it's meant to increase the chances of scoring in OT. It's only active in the regular season.

 

The penalty has always (at least as long as I can remember) ended on a goal, unless it's a major (5 min) penalty.

 

They've never done multiple OTs in the regular season. It used to just be a tie. But in the playoffs, they've always just kept playing until the first goal.

DAMMIT!!!!

 

Hawks were down 3-2 with 4 minutes left... and here is what happened AT THE BUZZER...

 

Havlat, M. (PPG, 19:59 in 3rd)

 

19:59 means he scored with under a second to go...

 

They ended up losing in OT :(

 

Oh well... next up RANGERS on Friday!

It's almost time. Nerding out on Friday. Not going out. Sitting on couch watching the Hawks crush the Rangers!
