08-09' Blackhawks (46-24-12) 104 PTS - 4th Seed In The West!

It's like the Hawks want to ensure that they will never get themselves into a shootout situation again.

Whatever it takes.

Huet played well tonight, though he wasn't often challenged.

41 shots tonight.

PATRICK WHO?

How fun would it be to play those jokers in the playoffs?

Is there goalie that bad? 13-1 in the two games?

in the season series, I think I read the Hawks outscore the Yotes 20-4. So yeah, IMO, the Yote have no goaltending when it comes to the Hawka.

I had no idea they were even in the top 8 right now. They suck. But their gs/ga stats would be pretty even if not for the Blackhawks matchups. Edmonton could easily overtake them though, with 3 games in hand and only 2 points behind.

Chicago is probably going to end up the 4 seed though, and will be playing a significantly better team in round 1.

Yeah, the only way the Hawks play someone like the Coyotes is if they somehow manage to pass a Detroit team that recently realized they will not actually be able to coast to a division title.

Barring that unlikely scenario, the Hawks are much more likely to play Calgary/Vancouver/Anaheim in the first round.

We won't be seeing Phoenix in the playoffs, unfortunately. But next year, I hope someone remembers last night and gives Fedoruk a beating.

People are focusing so much on what Walker did. Fedoruk was the real crook.

Another absurd Hawks stat:

Since Quenneville took over (after the Hawks were 1-2-1), the Hawks are 0-3-4 against Boston/Detroit/San Jose and 21-3-2 against the rest of the NHL (11-0-1 at home).

I was at the game last night. That was an absolute pantsing.

Then of course, my boy (former blue badass) Matt Walker, made one of my sporting dreams come true when he ko'd Jovo, my arch enemy.

By the time Fedoruk pulled his punk move on Huet, the place was 80% Hawks fan and it was fun to boo him off the ice.

Those were the only two times in my life I'll ever cheer for the Hawks.

No Keith or Sharp on All-Star team:

I can understand Sharp being left off, but Keith not being on the team is criminal. I understand each team has to be represented and that doesn't leave many roster spots, but the guy is a +24 playing nearly 30 minutes per game.

The other head-scratcher is Tkachuk going as the Blues representative over Boyes.

Patrik Berglund has been our best player this year.

Frankly, no Blue deserves an all-star nod.

I agree.

I thought of Boyes because of his goals, but I just looked up his stats. He's a -22. That's worst in the entire league. Wow.

I think the reason that Keith didnt make it is because the Hawks fans stuffed the ballot boxes with the wrong defenseman.

The NHL chose the names that would appear on the ballot. If Keith was put on their instead of Campbell, he'd be the one starting.

I guess I should follow the all-star game process a little more. Personally I think it is an awful game and really dont care who makes it. So how does the ballot work? Only one d-man per team on the ballot? Keith has been a good d-man for several years and certainly should be included on any kind of credible ballot.

Ok I looked up the actual ballot and now care even less about the All-star process. Why is the ballot so limited? and who makes the decision on who gets on the ballot?

edit...also if Hawks fan didnt stuff the box with an undeserving starter(Campbell), than Keith may have made the game. So my initial remark still stands.

I guess as long as it isn't the Sharks or Red Wings we're in decent shape.

That may be true. I don't know how the rest of the roster is filled in after the fan voting. Campbell is 4th in the league in scoring by defenseman with 28 points. Keith has 23. Campbell is a +7, and Keith, as I said before, is a +24.

Both deserve to be there. We should be focusing on Toews for taking Keith's spot.

+/- is kind of like RBIs in baseball. Not really a good stat to show how good an individual player is, more of a reflection on the team as a whole. Also, a reflection on the matchups that certain coaches pick. If there is only 6 d-men on the all-star team, I dont think both Keith and Campbell should be in. I could probably make a better case for excluding them both.
