I was looking through the schedule for September. The Cubs play 25 games that month. Of those, only 8 will be televised on WGN. Is it just me, or has WGN been carrying less and less games each year for the past few years? Any explanation for the lack of games on WGN?

Superstation tax. It's why the Braves have almost entirely abandoned TBS

On TBS when the Braves are playing, there has been a screen advertising for the playoffs. Am I not allowed to watch those games in Chicago or have the Braves abandoned TBS?

Since I don't get WGNHD and I have the EI package, I'm selfishly *not* upset that fewer games are on WGN. Comcast HD works out much better for me.

Does that include CSN+? There are 2 games on CSN+, 2 games on WICU, and 1 game that is currently scheduled to not be on TV at all in September.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i thought the lack of games on WGN had more to do with the contract with comcast?

this isnt like 15 years ago when it seemed every cubs game was on WGN

I don't miss the WGN games. WGN still isn't an HD program with my cable company. More and more games are broadcasting in HD on my MLB EI package. Looking forward to the day all the games are broadcast in HD.

I'm not totally sure about that. DirecTV also just moved CSN to a different channel, which is mildly annoying (I was pretty used to searching for 640 in the guide).

Buy Extra Innings. It's an easy $200 to spend.

then you just get to be annoyed by arcane blackout rules (grrr)

Yeah, that part of it sucks. But it only affects me on Saturdays so it's not a huge annoyance.

That game is likely a TBD. It's definitely going to be on TV.

It's mainly Fox's insane contract with MLB.

If you're going to black out all other games, then you should have to cover all the games that will be in that time slot and deliver them to the appropriate markets. With Fox, they black out games they aren't even covering, then deliver some stupid game nobody wants to see to markets that don't care about those teams.

I'm so lucky where I live I get to see one of either the Red Sox, Yankees or Mets every Saturday afternoon. :banghead:

Yeah, it was. It just got a firm start time, so I'm guessing they'll decide on the TV soon. They will televise a Cubs-Cardinals game in September. The White Sox are on CSN that day (it's a Sunday) so I'm hoping it's one of those September games that WGN picks up (they usually have picked up 1-2 extra when the Cubs are in contention).

For me it's Saturdays as well as any game against the Pirates (for I'm apparently in the Pittsburgh "viewing area", though I don't get FSN Pittsburgh. In other words, they're blacking me out for a game I can't get)

I like it when games are not on WGN. I enjoy my baseball in HD

agreed. If games are on WGN, I tend to watch them in the guest room on the 19" generic TV, as they look better there than they do on my 46" LCD.
