Some of the local radio guys have actually seen the blister itself.

Count me among those that doesn't think the Cubs are involved in some conspiracy to disguise an arm problem as a blister.

It's not a blister. They are regrowing the entire arm from scratch. That was just the egg from which the new arm will hatch.

blister gets infected......bacteria is anti-biotic resistant.....spreads up the hand, into the elbow (skipping everything in between, of course)......bacteria is especially fond of TJS-transplated tendons....arm falls off.

season over.

can we just lock this thread since there's no evidence of anything other than a blister?

The Cubs history of being less than truthful about the nature of their pitchers conditions does not give you pause?

Especially in light of who we are talking about?

Explain how hiding this right now makes any kind sense.

It's been several years and (not sure about this part) a different training staff since the last time that happened.

If local journalists have seen the never-ending blister lately and have reported such, then that's great news. I will admit that I've wondered whether this could be something a little more serious. Edited by fiver

the cubs have usually DOWNPLAYED injuries, but they don't say "oh he's got a blister or a hangnail" and then a few weeks later "by the way he needs tommy john surgery, sorry guys."

There's no rules against crazy theories. As long as everybody remains civil...there's nothing wrong with discussing this.

okay, well then maybe change the thread title to "kerry wood crazy conspiracy theory" so that people don't think "oh crap what's wrong with his arm"

I cant. Perhaps it doesnt. But it seemed like we were dribbled all sorts of things with Prior and Wood that made it try to appear that the problems they were having were not serious. I dont know why they did it then...so I have no explanation as to why they would do it now.

But......I think its safe to say that if they said that Kerry was having arm trouble it would cause great concern amongst the fanbase and as a result the media. So maybe they just dont want to freak people out or cause a media storm.

Or maybe he just has a blister.

I'm a Cubs fan. I have been beaten into being cynical.

Actually if it got infected and into his arm and antibiotics didn't work he would probably get sepsis and likely die.

Is it so clear that the Cubs have a history of being "less than truthful" about the health of their pitchers?

It can be very difficult to distinguish liars from idiots...in the Wood and Prior situations of 05-06 it was obvious

that someone was not doing their job properly, but a combination of incompetence and wishful thinking seems

at least as plausible an explanation as willfull deception
