Well I'll be damned.

WHAT A GAME! Way to go Cubs, taking maybe the toughest looking matchup from the Brewers!

Don't overlook the job Lilly did tonight. I know he gave 3 at the end, but he pitched very well. I'll take that at the back end of the rotation.

Tonight was much bigger for the Brewers than the Cubs, I'm glad we took it. Now we leave Milwaukee, at worst, -1. But I expect much better.

It's early to tell, but most pleasing was the plate approach looked markedly better. We'd been getting some guys on against the Marlins, and did a decent job against CC. Glad to see that pitch count up on both him and Torres. The Brewer's bullpen progression should be interesting tomorrow night.

post game ESPN comments by Buck Showalter:

"I still like the breweres in the NL central. CC pitched well enough for them to win tonight and had his high pitch count for the year."

Wow. What a bafoon. It's fine if you think the Brewers will win the division, but give a better reason than that crap.

Man, best win of the season right there. I thought we had little chance of winning this game, with the worst of our 4 starters going against their best. I'm liking the matchups the rest of the way.

This team showed me a lot today. Twice they blew leads and twice they responded. Good to see that on the road.

This game really shouldn't have been even as close as it was. The Brewers offense was held in check but for one inning, and the Cub offense had chances all night. Eventually the Cubs are going to start converting on their fair share of chances, and the runs will come more frequently.

130 CC pitches, for nothing.

Awesome.

Not according to Buck Showalter.

I saw that interview a few minutes ago, "oh theyve got a whole lot going for them"

Yea, in insane manager, a terrible bullpen, and a feast or famine HR dependent offense.

good game, Crazy game.

The Brewers lost it themselves and that is the worst part of this loss.

This is how these are suppose to be

The Brewers hardly beat themselves. They blew one defensive play and saved themselves several other runs (of course, a couple were thanks to 3rd base coach Mike Quade). The Cubs had chances all night and barely converted (finally in the 9th). The Brewers had chances in one inning and got the most of it.

The botched double-play was directly caused by Reed Johnson's slide. That wasn't a blown play as much as it was a blown up play.
