Umm yeah, taking Z down after this hitter - no matter the result - would be very advantageous. Not just for the present, but the future as well.

Thx Lou.

Yeah. Don't listen to me or anything though.

You got away with it, but if he comes back out for the 8th..... I'm thinking torches & pitchforks.

Well, that shouldn't have happened, but at least he got out of it. Nice work Z.

He's Z. But he's also not that far from an arm-related DL stint.

Is this one of those senior moments from Lou or something?

You leave Z in there and don't let him hit for himself.......... FTH LOU??!!?!?

Instead you bring Worthless Ward for the 1 pitch ground out.

I'm one who thinks Z can go this long on pitches once in a while without worrying too much.

But why here in this game? You should save those for the biggest of situations. His other game where he did this at least had really good reasons why he stayed in. This one really didn't. It was pretty pointless, and that bothers me more than the pitch count itself.

Styx with little to no reaction from the crowd.

You & I know 'em, but let's be honest. The world has moved on.

WTH?!?!? You leave Z in there to get 125 pitches and then take him out for a pinch hitter who runs slower than molasses. Lou what is wrong with you?

125 is too many for a guy that has had shoulder problems already this year, but I'm sure that the pen being short 1 man has something to do with this, and it's a cool night. Not making an excuse but I can see the logic.

yeah but just because there *is* logic doesn't mean there's *good* logic.

His arm angle looked pretty good tonight (according to a chart on the main page). We'll see what happens.

5 walks for Hill in 5 innings tonight.

If current scores hold, Cubs will be back to a 2.0 lead. Not a bad thing. Especially if we can get to 4.0 before the start of the series next week.

So if the absolute worst happens, it enables us to only be tied with MIL instead of them overtaking us.
