lol it's just me and minne over there... even um jumped ship.

Hey I'm over there!

We need to find a way to announce that Windy City Football is back. I really think it serves a good purpose.

I still think we should consolidate them (the Bulls site too) all into one mega NSBB site...

Having all the subforums (like a separate Social subforum) over there makes no sense...

the color announcer just said that the Favre trade could turn into the Ruth to the Yankees trade.

Someone has to stop this madman

Yep, make this the Chicago Sports Magnet site (minus Sox)

That would be Erik Kramer... I think he's just a bit wet behind the ears still.

He did go on to say that he thinks it's more likely that Favre struggles than does well...

Yeah, I'd much prefer a Bears (and bulls) subforum here. It's nice to have a nice one stop shop for talking Chicago sports.

Tom Thayer reported that Chris Williams had back surgery to repair a herniated disc. It shouldnt be season ending and Tom said he had the same thing done in one of his off seasons and came back fine. Still a downer as i was interested to see what Williams could do.

It's supposedly unrelated to the back spasms Williams had earlier.

Time to move Tait back over. Bears look to be getting close to reacquiring Miller at RT. Some sources say Williams is out for the year. I say put Williams out there because the lien is going to be lying on their backs after a second anyway. At least we will be using out well-paid LT to lie on the ground and get trampled on.

Fred Miller is a horrible idea. start an undrafted rookie if you must, but never Miller. dude is a turnstile

how long is Williams going to be gone?

Don't know how reliable it is, but sure doesn't sound good... :(

awesome. leave it to the Bears to draft a LT int he 1st rd only to have them loose him for the season with and injury before he even practices. in a tackle rich draft even.

I thought the Williams pick was solid. man. I was way off.

man this burns. Angelo should ALWAYS trade his #1 for as many 3-4 rds as he can get. just take the 1st out of his hands

The only thing that report got right so far was that it's a back injury. He wasn't shut down, as we now know that he already had surgery to repair a herniated disc.

If there's anything we can hang our hats on, it's that the team managed to go 7-9 last year with a similarly horrendous line (it IS a year older, though) despite injuries to several key defensive players (our dominant unit) and with a (presumably) worse running back.

Also, IIRC, the line managed to look slightly improved once the injured Ruben Brown got out of the mix... (or am I thinking of Miller now)?

Who knows about the WR situation, might be better, could be worse....depends on Hester

The Bears weren't going anywhere anyway. This will only improve their draft status for next year.

Another OL line pick I hope. Then a QB in the second round.

Hanie looked impressive. Did he throw a bad pass? Two bad drops. A nice little run. Good poise. The line wasn't bad actually, but Dorsey might have had something to do with that.

Pro Football Weekly says,

"Williams' latest back injury reportedly is similar to the one suffered by CB Charles Tillman in 2006. Tillman was able to return to action later that year, and the Bears also expect Williams to be able to make it back. As a result, according to our sources, the Bears are planning to keep Williams on the final 53-man roster."

How long was Tilman out for?

Williams didn't miss one practice or game while in college. The back issue was very minor. Regardless, this is a different back issue.

Look who this "Walter" guy has the Bears taking right now if the draft was held now? :pig:

I don't know how good Tebow's arm is, but he needs to turn into a pocket passer or harness his running. Pure runners, like Vick, don't make it in the NFL. If he had the old McNabb's escapeability, I would be happy with him.

I have some concerns about Tebow in the NFL. He's a fantastic college QB, but I don't think his running game is going to take him very far at the next level. Take away his legs and is he still capable of carrying an offense? I have my doubts.

Watched the entire broadcast... Really guys, is there a player that hasn't had "a great camp" ? They said that for just about every player.

Vick is actually a pretty good comp for Tebow. Outstanding athlete who are forced to play QB, because there team needed him to have the ball in his hands alot. Tebow got a good arm, but like Vick he won't be accurate with his arm at the NFL level. Tebow will be a RB in the NFL, not a QB.
