We get to test the DeRo bases loaded theory. All the stats say he is great, but I can never remember him doing well in this situation.

Wow. Yost has no regard for CC's arm. Did he not get the memo about CC's playoff "performance" last year?

Eh... "only" 106 pitches. Damn you impatient Cards...

its honestly minorly embarrassing that we haven't won the world series in 100 but yeah doesn't affect my satisfaction that much

It is an indictment of how poorly anyone and everyone who has run this team in the last 100 years is

Yeah, well, after living through the '84 debacle trust me I would rather have won.

Yea, I'm glad I wasn't around for that...but our generation of fans definitely got our own version of that in '03. I can honestly say I didn't need to find out what it felt like.

The subsequent disastrous collapse of that pitching staff (which would've made us a playoff powerhouse for years to come) over the next few years was the cherry on top.

For me it's seeing these horrible patterns, and then fearing the next repeat.

For example: from my perspective, 2003 & 2004 wound being a replay of '84 and '85 in soooo many ways. Just seeing that history repeat itself like that was incredibly depressing. Then I sit there and go, "OK, this is the next '03 right?" ".....and here comes the next '85!!"

It's bad, I know. But I can't help it. I feel like I've seen these same couple movies too many times. I'd rather not see yet another sequel, know what I mean?

Yeah, but you also realize that that's totally irrational, and stupid magic and pixie dust like that isn't real, and what happened 24 years ago has no bearing on what's happening right now.

I do realize it's irrational. Absolutely. But guess what? That just adds to the frustration. Shouldn't be able to happen *AGAIN*.

The Cubs have the best record in the NL.

For the moment.

That's true, after all they were terrible in 1949.

that play went out with blue suede shoes

high button.

was that a correction (not that I'm mad)? I swear Harry used to say "blue suede" more times than not.

your pessimism is an unstoppable force

Thank you.

There is a very fine line between optimism and stupidity.

My TV is broken also. I thought I just saw a base hit with RISP, and a Fuku walk.

Now it's saying we have bases loaded and only 1 out.

I remember a grand slam taking place in SF. It was awesome.

Yay Fukudome and DeRosa. :)

Let's put this one away here.

Assuming we close this one out, this is a pretty encouraging win

Dude, this game is not even close to over.

Is that you Dusty?

Hey, this is fun, the last couple of games made me forget the joy of having a lead and being confident about a win.

What "theory" is that? That someon watching some games is more accurate than the stats?
