The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that the Cardinals are interested in George Sherrill.

The newspaper adds that Eddie Guardado is another possibility as the Cardinals look to acquire a left-handed setup man. Sherrill has 29 saves for the Orioles after coming over in the Erik Bedard deal.

That's rather absurd. I can see them getting someone of good value for him, but Rasmus? That's a bit silly

I think we've long since learned the folks at OH over value every player they have.

I suspect the percentage of OHers that overvalue O's players is not particularly dissimilar to the percentage of NSBBers that overvalue Cub players.

I don't think that's true at all.

That's probably true.

But our board has the good sense to aggressively mock people with stupid opinions, which acts as an ignorance prophylactic of sorts and cuts down on the completely outlandish trade scenarios. They're too polite over there, and it results in people actually spreading their stupid opinions to others.

i'd argue that NSBB'ers actually undervalue the Cubs prospects (as illustrated by the number of trade proposals made that include us sending 7 players for one mediocre veteran)

Whats BigBird say?

Nothing right now, seeing as his sources are busy. But his sources---Bert and Ernie---told him they would get back to him as soon as they find the cookie monster.

So this story broke on Tuesday. Then the Cards proceed to get beat in a series of late-inning meltdowns to the Crew Tues, Wed, Thurs (one of those was the CC shutout, but you get the point).

I'm guessing this talk will be heating up. The Crew just showed the whole world what LaRussa must have known all along: that BP isn't going to hold many leads against solid teams.

On a side note, we could use some more BP help before the deadline too.

Yeah I thought The Brew Crews bullpen was bad, but man did we see the a worse one in that 4 game set.
