Hilarious!

He pointed to Ichiro Suzuki, the Seattle Mariners’ wisp of an outfielder, a man who still uses a translator to do interviews with English-speaking reporters – and happens to be baseball’s amalgam of Anthony Robbins and George Carlin. Every year, after the AL manager addresses his team, Ichiro bursts from his locker, a bundle of kinetic energy, and proceeds, in English, to disparage the National League with an H-bomb of F-bombs, stunning first-timers who had no idea Ichiro speaks the queen’s language fluently and making returnees happy that they had played well enough to see the pep talk again.

Ichiro always seemed to strike me as that distant, brilliant person with an amazing sense of humor. This just confirms it.

If Ichiro can make a speech and get the AL to dominate every ASG, how come the Mariners suck so bad? What, no speeches for his own teammates? I don't get it.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say there's slightly more talent on the ASG roster than the Mariners...perhaps...maybe.

Yeah, but the Mariners don't have to play a team of all-stars every game. It's all relative. Seriously, the article makes it sound like his speech is actually the reason they win every year. If so, someone on the NL team needs to step up and get nasty. For real.

The MLB marketing campaign may try to beef up the ASG with the "This time it's for real" slogan, but truth is that these guys don't play together all the time, and they probably are pretty damn nervous out there. I wouldn't be surprised if his speech doesn't loosen those guys up and put a little fire into a game that probably normally doesn't have much. Of course there's no measurable way to determine whether this has an effect...

I just posted it cuz it was funny.

I think he would be more concerned with an a-bomb from a-rod.

I got to admit the AL does have some characters on their team. Maybe Dempster can pull a great practicle joke on everyone in order to loosen them up

I hope he found a safe place to park his hot air balloon.

Ichiro is overrated? Because he is.

I like how you combined "practical" and "testicle." And to be honest, I wouldn't put it past Dempster to do the same.

if i were a big leaguer, i'd have a translator, too. but my translator would be there to translate for all of the meatball, low-brow, baseball fans. it would be like wrestling. i'd also have a personal financial analyst in the dugout and i would speak to the translator in a british accent and wear romantic-era british clothes and strut about.

translator: sulleymon would like to tell all of the women in st louis to stop chanting his name when he steps to the plate, as he finds them all repugnant and, most probably, in-bred. he would also like to ask st. louis men why they all hate him, of course he wouldn't touch any of their piggish sister-brides if they were the last prostitutes on earth. after all, doesn't he throw caviar out his car window when he drives by the unfortunate-looking people of this pathetic city?

Thanks a lot for making me fall out of my seat laughing.

I've been on this horse forever

The man doesn't walk or hit for power, why should be an instant hall of famer?

Let me take a stab at this one....

8 time all star

2 time batting champion

AL MVP (as a rookie)

AL Rookie of the year

7 time gold glove winner

200 Hits every single season.

Could end up with 2,000 hits in a decade.

Just because he does not walk or hit for power does NOT mean he wont be in the hall of fame. Sorry the guy isn't perfect for you.
