EPatt now 0-10 for the A's with 3 walks and 5 K's.

EPatt didn't play today (Weds). Gallagher 5 IP, 5 hits, 3 earned runs, 3 BB's, 4 K's. 83 pitches.

Didn't Murton just need a chance to play and he'd be all right?

He's going to get plenty of opportunity to play now.

A change of scenery seems to have done Josh Donaldson some good (the somewhat forgotten A-ball catcher in the trade).

Keep in mind he was promoted to high-A after the trade, making is recent play all the more impressive.

I wonder if they will start to dh donaldson. If I remember correctly he was a top 20 pick offensively but lacked a defensive position, which is why he fell to the cubs and why they moved him to catcher. He was definitely the sleeper of the deal, in my oppinion the guy with the highest ceiling of all four players traded to A's.

His catching defense isn't bad and is said to be improving. Also, he didn't fall in last years draft - he went around where most publications rated him as a prospect.

"Part of the reason why Donaldson was drafted in the supplemental round and not as a legit first rounder was due to questions about his future as a catcher." - Cubs Hub scouting report for Donaldson

I guess "dropped" isnt exactly the right word to use because he didnt slide on draft day, but my point was that his offense certainly top notch and had there not been questions about his staying power at the catching position than he would have been drafted higher. You're kind of splitting hairs though.

Hopefully it's nothing serious for Gallagher. It's always sad when a young pitcher like him goes down with an injury, especially such a nice one like him. I'm sure it must have been scary to hear that pop with all the stories he's probably heard of a pop being the beginning of the end, and I certainly hope that nothing could be further from the truth here and he can still have a long career.

Wow, ironic indeed. Too bad for Sean if it's true; I hope it turns out to be a minor issue.

Just goes as a reminder that although you can be prudent about managing health risks on your roster, nobody is a rock-solid lock to be healthy for 162 games. Especially true for starting pitchers.

dammit... hope it is just stiffness and nothing else.

Heres the details as we know, during the Oakland/Texas game in the 4th inning Sean was in the middle of his windup when time was suddenly given to the hitter. Sean halted his motion and held onto the ball, not a good idea as a pitchers windup is one of the most violent actions and not natural. I was watching this game and knew that this wasn't good and asked Sean about it and he stated he was okay. Sean is a "warrior" when it comes to pitching and I swear his arm would have to be falling off to miss a start.

I was a bit concerned over his past three starts as the walks started to add up and his control was off. It wasn't until I watched the Toronto game this past week that I suspected he was hurt. When he was taken out he informed the coaching staff that his shoulder was bothering him and tuesday morning he was on a plane back to Oakland.

I just spoke with him after the results of his MRI and shows "no damage to the rotator cuff or the labrum". Great news but what did happen is that Sean pulled a muscle and hasn't given it the proper time to heal. I can't say anything about a trip to the DL as Sean is eager to get back and understands he will most likely miss a start. He will undergo Physical therapy and it will be up to Sean as to when he gets back out on the field. Of course me being the cautious parent and knowing Sean have told him to take the proper amount of time to heal this muscle and not do anything stupid!!!! In short this means Sean will try to be back on the field in the shortest amount of time but hoping coaching staff convinces him otherwise.. :yahoo:

Congrats on the good news that it's only a pulled muscle and no damage to the labrum or rotator cuff. Here's hoping that Sean gets healed up and is back on the mound as soon as possible.

I think there should be a rule against granting time once the pitcher has started his windup.
