i read this about 5 minutes ago and i'm still laughing

You guys simply amaze me. I try to be helpful and you guys find my post hilarious? Unbelievable. I was sincere in what I posted, thinking that you might want to take the opportunity to express your opinion to Cub management as well...but I guess not.

All kidding aside, I have my people tell incoming calls I'm in meetings all the time. It doesn't always mean I'm actually in a meeting.

And I really wouldn't want Hendry making decisions based on the whims and opinions of the fanbase, because for everyone who wants a Harden or Burnett, you're going to have some dope wanting Greg Maddux back.

Just taking a guess here, but I suspect Hendry already knows that the Brewers traded for Sabathia; he probably doesn't need us to call him and tell him that. I suspect he already knows that the Cubs' rotation could use some shoring up; he probably doesn't need us to call and tell him that. What he DOES need is a willing partner since trades involve at least two teams.

Which is why we need someone to call Billy Beane and conference Hendry in.

LOL

At least she didnt just laugh and hang up on him. Jim is pretty much always in his office working on something and talking to someone. Proably her nice way of saying Jim doesnt have time to talk to any fan that decides to call the ticket office looking for him.

Maybe if I told you clowns that I'm also fighting my second round of cancer, you'd be a little more understanding...but probably not. And yes I'm being serious.

Oh, come ON. You cannot seriously be making a connection between this post and an indifference to your health. One has nothing to do with the other. One is serious. The other is completely not.

I'm telling you you're kidding. I'm not even going to ask.

Get well soon.

From what I've gathered, Hendry is a guy who works around the clock. He probably spends 18+ hours a day working. So, I don't think it's necessary to call him and encourage him. Now, if you happen to see him somewhere, sure offer your encouragement to him.

Hendry knows what needs to be done and he doesn't need me to tell him. AS NCCF said, what Hendry needs more than anything is a willing partner.

And nothing personal, SSBW, but he could have been in a meeting or that could be the line his secretary gives when someone calls.

Also, jokes about you calling Hendry have nothing to do with your health. Please don't take them as such. We all wish you the best in your recovery. I have a mother that had to fight through cancer and I don't wish it on anyone. But, I think more than anything people are making light of the fact that you called and expected to actually get through to Jim.

And on another note, if all 1000 of us kept calling to talk to Jim to encourage him, wouldn't that keep him from doing the very job we hope that he is doing?

A little more understanding that you called Jim Hendry to try and tell him to make a deal, talked to a secretary and then posted it on this bored? Nope, I fail to see the connection.

I have to voice my displeasure in Hendry letting Baker go from the team. Yes, I too disagreed with a lot of the moves that Dusty made but when you have a GM who doesn’t supply you with the players you need to win, that what chance do you have to succeed? How can a GM for two years in a row pin all of his hopes on his two often-injured pitchers (Wood and Prior), like Jimbo/Fatso did? Please! Dusty Baker was made the scapegoat for all of the Cubs’ troubles. I think Baker is better off, getting out of Chicago. The Cubs don't deserve him. Dusty will be all right, he’ll land on his feet somewhere. I do agree with those of you that say that it is important that we separate Dusty Baker –the man from Dusty Baker – the manager. This is true and as I have said, I wasn’t happy with some of the managerial moves that my man Dusty, made. I know many you didn’t like Baker, and that’s fine but what I had a problem with, was how some of the posters on this board, got personal and ugly with regards to their feelings of Baker –some people even joked about doing some sort of violence to Dusty, just because they were upset with some move that he had. C’mon as much as I love the Cubs and baseball, it is after all, just a game. You’ll have to excuse me, but I can’t understand how some of our Cub fans, can get so ugly and rude with the players and the manager of the team. Some players even received death threats, are you kidding me? Whether it was LaTroy Hawkins or someone else, the behavior of some fans was and is, still inexcusable. I understand that Juan Pierre is practically out the door because of some of the things that occurred this summer. Hendry better get off the couch and do something to retain Pierre and Ramirez right now. If this type of behavior continues, it won’t matter who Jimmy brings in, whether it’s Torre, Girardi or someone else, nobody is going to want to put up with the fans at Wrigley.

Definitely no compassion on NSBB.com

On NSBB.com? You mean the URL this place used to have before somebody forgot to renew it?

Sorry for the tease guys and I wasn't really sure whether this post went in transactions or not, so...mods feel to move this wherever you wish. Anyway, I just called (well, probably 45 min. ago) Jim Hendry's office to encourage him to work out a deal for Rich Harden. I know I'm crazy but what can I say? I'm a die-hard Cub fan (45 yrs. plus).

His secretary said he was in the office but he was currently in a meeting (maybe with other scouts and personnel working on a deal?), so he couldn't take my call. Hendry's secretary was very nice and I just left a message saying that I know Jim will do his best to swing a trade that will counter the Sabathia trade. I reinterated that I'm hoping that Harden will be that player. His secretary thanked me for my comments and said that Mr. Hendry would appreciate my kind words.

In case none of you have this number, I'll give it to you. Call the Cubs at (773) 404-2827 (Cubs). Just remain on the line, ignoring all the prompts and then you will eventually hear a pre- recorded message telling you to "make your selection now or remain on the line and a operator will assist you". When the operator comes on, just ask for Hendry's office.

Give Jimbo and call and tell him to do whatever it takes to land Rich Harden (or someone else for that matter). Man, I love this time of year! Every year I look forward to the trading deadline and what the Cubs might do.

Gosh, how do I put this nicely without promoting an attack or coming across as an arrogant know it all? Please don't take this the wrong way. That is what she is supposed to say to you and doesn't mean he is working on any deal nor that he will get the message. She does her job well.

Well that is actually a Cubs number, more like the ticket office #, but a Cubs number nonetheless.

Nope it's the Cubs main number actually.

Pretty much what I figured as well. I think you said it quite well.

It's insensitivity like this that brings down this forum. The man has a life threatening illness and all you do is bring him down. Nice. Real nice.

When I read some of you people's posts I just throw my hands up in exasperation.

I'm sorry for singling you out, you aren't the only one in this thread in need of a life check.
