Awesome. I've been wanting to see a video of that for so long, but all I could find was a hardcore blurry Sportscenter intro that just showed the final five seconds.

I was at that game and didn't realize the magnitude of the craziness of that play until I was able to get home and see it on TV. I do remember it feeling like the play lasted an entire minute.

That's the same night Mongo called out Angel Hernandez, correct? I'd like to see that again too :)

Good video though, thanks.

i don't know what was worse on that play, the baserunning or the defense. I guess the defense when you consider the end result

Good times ... I love the Pat & Ron call. Thanks for posting Aramis Fan.

That game put them 2.5 games up in first but it was all downhill from there unfortunately. People tend to forget the 2001 division race, it sort of gets overshadowed by 1998 and 2003. The Cubs had a very decent bullpen that year, and they had just filled a big hole at 1B (at least on paper) with the McGriff trade. This win against the Rockies put them 17 games over 500. They were not even close to 17 games over 500 on Aug 7 in 1998, 2003, 2004 nor 2007.

The McGriff acquisition in '01 is more elegant proof that it doesn't necessarily mean anything when you pull off the big move mid-season.

What I remember most about 2001 is when the Cubs had an 8-game losing streak, then immediately followed that with a 12-game winning streak. I don't remember any other team going from one extreme to the other that immediately.

I saw the Cubs beat Milwaukee up at Miller Field (Wood pitching) during that win streak

Every time I watch that game I wonder where the hell Girardi is going. If Gutierrez scores, the game is over, so it doesn't matter if Girardi was on first or second.

Nice. I forgot that he spit out the window after saying he would have some "speaks" with the ump after the game.

LOL, think Mongo will ever be invited back?

I've always debated if he spat or blew a kiss. Anyone else have any idea?

McGriff certainly wasn't to blame in 01. That guy came over and raked -- 973 OPS. I think an over all lack of talent caught up with them that year. That and I recall Gordon burning out in the end --- he was used a ton.

It was a pretty fun year, however. I was at Wrigley when McGriff initially turned down the trade --- crazy times.

Heck, McGriff wasn't exactly terrible in '02. Things worked out pretty well at 1B for the Cubs, however.

Man the look on Angel Hernandez's face after Mongo saying he would have some "speaks" with him, was utterly, and without question, priceless, and friggin' hilarious.

Looks like he spat to me.
