That was ---SOAPDROPPING--- awful. This is the angriest I've been this year.

I know he has been good all year, but **** kerry wood. You have to get through the crap that is the bottom of the cardinals order.

Apparently BudHouse has logged in as illiniguy today.

I think Woody would tell you the same thing. He has to get the job done there. Now we probably drop this series.

Why do we probably drop the series? We're better than the Cardinals, and are playing them tomorrow.

If you had to bet everything you owned, would you bet on the Cubs rebounding and winning tomorrow?

Two reasons

1. Momentum

2. Cubs road record

Put this loss in the: "crushing, no way the Cubs are going to lose this game internal file". Seriously, I'm so used to to these type of losses that you almost become immune to them. I have felt this feeling so many times that you just walk away from the TV and say: "They managed to lose another game they had won".

If it's not blowing the NLCS in 1984 and 2003, it's losses like these that remind you how hard it is to be a fan of this team.

Every team blows games like this. It's not exclusive to the Cubs.

I actually think Wood did the job after walking the first batter. He had Molina struck out, but didn't get the call. That non-call changed the whole inning.

Does he have to battle through it....sure. And he almost did.

He hasn't blown a save and the Cubs haven't lost a game he's pitched in since may 24. Closer give one away once in awhile.

Everybody....come off the ledge!

i wouldn't bet everything i owned on anything. the cubs lost a baseball game, that's it. i'd probably lean toward picking the cardinals because they're at home and they have the better starting pitcher.

I think it's a testament to how well the Cubs have been playing that I can't remember a time this year when I was angrier.

But it doesn't make me any less pissed off. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Seriously. It's a tough loss, but not the end of the world. I'm confident the Cubs can hit a struggling Wellemeyer. Marmol was great today. Lilly was pretty good. Aramis finally did something. Lee stayed hot. Derosa stayed hot. Cotts was good. Wood won't blow many save chances, especially ones with a 2-run lead.

Momentum? Like our momentum coming off the Sox series at Wrigley?

Will everyone agree it is time to worry when we go 2-4 the next 6 games? Hell we could be looking at a 2-7 finish if you look at the starting pitcher match ups.

which would be extremely stupid, since the cubs have been very very very good at home and have a much better offense than the giants and pirates.

We play the Reds. Oh and we can't hit Cueto, Volquez, Cain, and Lincecum. Or at least haven't yet.

He, I meant 2-6 not 2-7.

if you really think there's a decent chance that the cubs will go into the all star break on a 2-8 skid, you'd probably be better served by just not being a sports fan any more.

which we almost got, were it not for a Fontenot homer. Maybe, it is time to re-evaluate just how good this team really is.

We had an off day in between? I dont know, are you trying to say that momentum plays no part in sports. I am probably placing too much emphasis on momentum of course...the players have probably already brushed most of this off. I was just listing reasons why the Cubs would be favored to lose tomorrow.

Yes, because the Cubs franchise has proven time after time that they exceed expectations.

And we might have swept if Theriot got a hit on Tuesday night and Marmol didn't give up a 3 run HR on Thursday.

I'd imagine they've exceeded your expectations pretty much every year of your existence.

No, but they have since '04.

So at what point should we start to worry about the other teams in the division? Once they have passed us?
