Wonder how many starts it would take him there to move up to the 5 spot of our rotation...

Personally, I'd like to see 4 or so good starts at AAA before bringing him back up to the majors. The last thing they want is for him to not be quite ready and then have to send him back down or whatever. If he comes up, it better be for good.

That and Marquis has been pretty good lately which is bound to not last but you don't replace him when he's doing well.

So, is Rich pitching tomorrow?

Probably, not confirmed.

Sorry I just had to see this again. :D

I don't think they'd go lefties on back-to-back days

I wrote it best to worst, not how the order would actually be. Even if Demp pitched after Lilly, Demp's the 3 starter

A strong case can be made that when actually on the mound pitching, Harden is better than Z. Not saying it's necessarily the truth, just saying it could be argued.

Z's durability obviously breaks up the near-tie by a mile, though.

Likewise, the argument can be made that if Hill actually pitches himself back into the big league rotation, he may be better than Lilly or even Dempster.

If someone told me Lilly would be the 5th starter at the end of the year, I'd have been one happy camper.

What an unbelievably awesome problem to have if that were to be the case... a (current) 10-win All-Star as your "4th" starter. :yahoo:

If Rich really has "gotten it together" and pitches well in AA and/or AAA what are the Cubs going to do with him?

I know Lou wants another LHP in the rotation but Marquis deserves to be in the rotation with the last three starts. Marshall pitched fantastic in his last outing.

This is really shaping up to be the Cubs year. Three competent pitchers for one spot and the addition of Harden. Wow!

Puts some pressure on Lilly to produce.

I think they'd try to move Lieber first, emphasizing value with a combo bullpen + rotation pitcher and see if Marquis would consider coming out of the bullpen. Would love to see OPR keep it up, stretch out in AAA and make it back up to Chicago in August.

So is he going to Iowa for sure for his next start?

Not for sure but that's seems to be the opinion. The blurbs in the paper had mentioned that he'd head up to Iowa or Tenn soon.
