Matchups:

Tootielicious (9-4) at Dishman's Dishmans (4-9)

Harrys Budcrew (6-7) at Alamo Stealth (7-6)

Raw Dawgs (9-4) at Lynx (6-7)

Draconian Empire (6-7) at Severe Tooterstorms (5-8)

Buddiga (4-9) at Northside Baseball (8-5)

Quakers (7-6) at Voo Doo Bayou Bashers (4-9)

Games of the Week:

Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (7-6) at The Eyes of Texas (8-5)

Fuzzy Logistics (7-6) at NC Cubs (7-6)

Personally I get 2 starts each from Oswalt and Halliday. Can't decide if I want to start Eveland at Anaheim or Floyd vs Oakland for my 7th start. Other than that, I have 6 starts from Sheets, Halladay, Oswalt and Weaver. Garza will be sitting the bench this week vs Boston.

Huge weeks for GHS and NC, as they're fighting for the 3rd place position in the East. In the West, Eyes of Texas and Fuzzy are looking to keep pace in a tightly packed division. I'll personally be rooting for NC, whom at this point I'd rather face in the playoffs, and for Eyes of Texas. Should be a fun week. Harry's Budcrew also has a must win match-up vs Alamo, who is also in the tightly packed group in the West.

NC only has 12 starts to pick from this week, with most of those starts against really crappy offenses. I'm just going to go ahead and write this one off as a loss from the get go, because optimism sure isn't working.

I know; I really wish I had some flexibility. :D

For the most part, making the right choices when I've had excess pitching starts to choose from has been one of the things that I've done well this year. Hopefully that will continue this week.

Actually, I'd prefer having slightly less myself (when that many starters have two starts in a week that usually means there are very few double starts the week before and after). I like having about 9 or 10 to choose from.

i would never want 12 starts to choose from. the chances of me picking the right ones would be zero.

That says a lot about you as a manager.... :)

I only have 8 starts this week, but to me it's really only 7, because the last time James Shields pitched against Boston, we all know how that turned out. Needless to say, Shields is sitting against Boston and barring another suspension, he'll be pitching against KC later in the week for my 7th start.

I didn't even really remember to make changes yesterday or if I even did. I remember looking at things, but not sure what the hell I did or how many starts I have this week. Not a good start to do that. I need to have a better week this week too in order to win. 0 points from my SS will not do it. 7 starts would be nice, but if I have only 7 the odds of one of them being negative are pretty good.

Time to look at the lineup and see what the hell I am working with.

To those who have made me offers, I will look at them but might not respond right away. Don't get all mad ;-)

That you get good players, but hell, even you admitted you wouldn't have any idea when it comes to choosing a pitcher out of a group. :)

Just FYI... if there are any people interested in dropping out of the league, or any managers that don't want to participate any longer, Matt's brother is interested in taking over a team. I can say for sure too that he'd be more active than Matt.

So far so good. Nice production from my offense (especially DeRosa), a fairly good outing from Garland, and my only stinker (Maddux) was on my bench. Considering that the Padres are BigbadB's second favorite team it would be ironic if they help me beat him. :D

Good job, Lilly. Would have liked you to complete it and get the shutout or an even better idea would have to not come back out in the 9th at all, but I'll take 25.5....though it woulda been over 30 had the latter happened.

not that it's effecting our matchup or anything, but i don't believe billy butler is eligible to be on the minor league roster.

also, buddiga's roster is kind of a mess.

Yes, I know, I need to drop someone from my mash unit. I've put almost everyone on my team on the DL at some point this season.

He better start hitting again too.

kelly johnson in for an injured uggla.

by the way, is johnson exempt?

I don't believe so, even though he didn't play in 06, I believe his clock started after the 2005 season. One of the reasons I didn't keep him.

I'm not so sure under the new exemption rule. This is the exact wording from the rules thread:
E. Prospects will be cap-exempt for three years. A year is a season in which a player has 50 or more plate appearances, 5 pitching starts, or 10 relief appearances.
I interpret this as meaning that since he missed the entire 2006 season it doesn't count, so his exemption years would be 2005, 2007, and 2008. Juan can confirm or correct my interpretation.

I always was under the impression that the clock started following the first year a player loses his exemption. If I misinterpreted, oh well I guess...

Exemptions are kind of like option years. You could use an option one year, but not the next. There's been several cases of players gaining an exemption year because of injury. Most have been pitchers, I believe.

Anyway, the player must meet or exceed the thresholds lined out otherwise they do not use an exemption.
