kelly johnson in for an injured uggla.

by the way, is johnson exempt?

I don't believe so, even though he didn't play in 06, I believe his clock started after the 2005 season. One of the reasons I didn't keep him.

I'm not so sure under the new exemption rule. This is the exact wording from the rules thread:
E. Prospects will be cap-exempt for three years. A year is a season in which a player has 50 or more plate appearances, 5 pitching starts, or 10 relief appearances.
I interpret this as meaning that since he missed the entire 2006 season it doesn't count, so his exemption years would be 2005, 2007, and 2008. Juan can confirm or correct my interpretation.

I always was under the impression that the clock started following the first year a player loses his exemption. If I misinterpreted, oh well I guess...

I'm not positive I interpreted right either; that's why we need clarification from Juan. I was thinking of the option analogy myself. A player has three option years, but they don't have to be consecutive years. I was thinking the same thing held for exemptions, but I don't know that as a fact.

towles has homered in three straight at AAA, and liriano threw seven shutout innings (9 k's) yesterday. anytime those guys want to come back up and be productive is fine with me.

If a player misses a whole year, the year does not count as an exemption. There are several players that have had this happen, and Juan confirmed this with me when I had Rocco Baldelli. I believe BJ Upton missed a whole year in between trips to the majors, as well.

I have Liriano in another league, so I'm fine with him coming back too.

but you weren't selling him as exempt!

Maybe not, but he plays the weakest position on the roster besides C, as a 2b.

Utley, Kinsler, Uggla, Roberts, Phillips, Upton, and Pedroia disagree that 2B is a weak position.

DeRosa's 19 points against my team last night also begs to differ.

Guess it's a position of weak value to me. You can find just as many, most likely more, players of that calibur at every other position (minus catcher).

Well shi*. Shouldn't have left Garza on the bench, especially since I don't know if Oswalt will go this weekend. I now have to pitch Eveland tomorrow in case pitching Floyd this weekend won't give me 7 cuz of Roy missing a start.

Oh well.. happy to have a comfy lead!

I'll keep Cano.... The way it looks right now with my keepers, I may have 10 VERY SOLID players come the start of next year..

My keeper list should be pretty solid as well.

Brandon Webb

James Shields

Kelvim Escobar

Max Scherzer/Aaron Laffey/Ubaldo Jimenez/Carlos Carrasco/Carlos Marmol

Matt Holliday

Ryan Braun

Geovany Soto

Jacoby Ellsbury

Stephen Drew

Alexei Ramirez/Carlos Gonzalez/Ian Stewart

With the potential to also keep one of Rickie Weeks, Vernon Wells, Carlos Pena, Javier Vasquez or Milton Bradley since my only non exempt players are Webb, Holliday and Escobar (who has yet to pitch this year). We'll just call it an open try out. However, I am really starting to like what Alexei Ramirez is doing. I need to find a spot in my line up for him to play regularly.

Anyone have interest in Rickie Weeks?

this week could be decided tomorrow with four starters going for EofT.

Yeah I was looking at that and I don't like it. None of the matchups are really bad, but I still don't like it. I need 100 points tomorrow.

I had 4 starters lined up for Thursday, but one of them got bumped up to Wednesday. 5 of my 7 starts will be on Wednesday and Thursday.

I know, but I am trying to be optimistic damn it. Don't have to win, just don't get shelled. I am most worried about Owings tomorrow. Though I am expecting Sanchez to get shelled for you too ;-).

Cain and Wakefield combine for 63. Volquez with another lackluster start. I got a start in hand, but down about 30. I need one of Juan's pitchers to get shelled. Still w/ Peavy, Cain, Wakefield to go 1 more time.

not saying that it won't happen...as sanchez is prone to some blow-ups...but he's been pretty much lights out for a while now and the dodgers ain't exactly lighting up the scoreboards. i'm more concerned about the duke facing the white sox and even dempster facing the giants.

you're pitchers have faced/will face cws, det, @hou, tb, milwaukee, and the mets. meanwhile, i've faced minn, cleveland, sf, cws, lad, seattle and oakland. those matchups certainly favor me.

if i were a member of this league that was looking toward the future, i would probably inquire as to the availability of john danks, who is the 13th best SP in roadkill and has TWO exemptions left. not telling anyone how to do their job or anything.

i can't decide which waiver wire pickup i like more...danks (3rd in the AL in era) or the duke (1st in the AL in era).
