$$$ Impact of a World Series title

Interesting article in Crain's today suggests that a Cubs World Series title this year could have a similar revenue impact as it did for the Red Sox, which saw revenues shoot up 40%.

 

Think that could justify us taking on another $10-15 in salaries (ie CC)? I sure hope so!

I've kind of felt like the Cubs have already spent beyond their means the last few years to try to win a World Series. If they can open the pocket book even further with a World Series victory, I wouldn't be too disappointed.

Would Zell allow the Cubs to spend and get someone before the trading deadline? He has been a tightwad, but a Cubs team who wins the WS would be worth significantly more than originally thought.

A blind person could see the $$$ impact of a World Series title for the Cubs. So if we can better our chances by investing in a high-priced player or two, I think they will have no problem doing it.
