Theriot just drives me nuts. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop with him.

If a good SS is available at the deadline, the Cubs would benefit if they pull the trigger.

He's right in his prime years, taking walks, and isn't the benefit of a BABIP thats crazy high

This isn't a mirage, this is just a craeer year for him

So will they interview Trammell from the dugout? Or get Lou down in the showers? That would be good television.

Did Lou get ejected? I just got home.

Yeah, apparently "swinging" is no longer a strike for the white sox, so lou killed, fried, and ate the umpire.

Did he start throwing bases or something? Anybody have a video?

I can probably get one

He got in the umps mug. But, it was pretty tame.

Yesss....I just won an eBay auction for Red Sox/Yankees tickets for Thursday nights game at Yankee Stadium. This will be my first and only trip to the House That Ruth Built. Anyone have any suggestions?

Not if it hinders our chances to land a top starter.

It also depends on who is available and what prices are out there.

And fine, fine, reasonable was not the right choice of words for Theriot. He has a very good OBP, but I feel his lack of power, mediocre defense, and baserunning blunders detract a decent amount from his value.

Who would be available? If the Tigers continue to suck, I could see Renteria being available, but that isn't likely.

Even with how much you dislike Riot, don't you think the Cubs have more pressing needs than SS?

I'd be in favor of trading for a good SS at the deadline.

yeah, his OBP isn't near .400 or anything.

His OBP is reasonable, but his baserunning mistakes and his defense really hurt him. The Cubs could upgrade, imo.

Nice curve!

Yeah, but I don't know who you would go after that would be any better.

Go after Hanley Ramirez

Get, ok you win.

One more thing on Theriot... for as much as people gripe about his lack of power, there are only 5 SS's in baseball that have a higher OPS than him.

Don't get bleachers tickets. I did that last year, although the view was good, I couldn't go to monument park. ](*,)

Just out of curiosity, how much over face did you wind up paying for those?

On offense, I'd say SS is their biggest need.

Pitching-wise, if there's a good pitcher available, I'd take one over the SS. At this point, I'm just not sure who is out there and who the Cubs could conceivably get.

Renteria would be a downgrade.

Would he? Hasn't he always been much better as an NL player?

Not sure. But Theriot is better in every offensive way and has him by about 100 points on OPS.
