On the eve of the Sox's rematch with the Cubs, manager Ozzie Guillen didn't see any problems with general manager Kenny Williams or himself sarcastically repeating the "Happy Anniversary" line in response to the 100 years since the Cubs last won a World Series.

"We just tell people what they need to hear," Guillen said Thursday morning. "We’re not against the Cubs, we’re not against their organization, we’re not against their fans, we just say what we have to say and I don’t see why that’s made into a big deal. If they get offended by that, look yourself in the mirror. "When you tell the truth you don’t have anything to hide. Last year, we didn’t say anything and they still kicked our butts. They’re playing good against us and there is no doubt that we have to play better against them and better against everybody."

This particular comment almost makes it sound like the smack talk is part of some deliberate, premeditated strategy. It's just sort of pathetic. I doubt anyone on the Cubs is paying any attention.

I thought it was more the part where he says they say what they have to say and aren't against the Cubs.

What that translates to is them playing to their own fans. Which I can't blame them. If he came out and said he loves the Cubs organization and has nothing against them White Sox fans would jump on him just like we did when he criticized us.

I saw A.J. Pierzynski on some show yesterday and I actually didn't hate him.

Yeah, the reports of AJ being a "douche" are highly exaggerated. For some reason everybody hates him, but during interviews and such, he's just like any other ballplayer. I honestly don't know where the anger started.

I would assume it has mostly to do with his attitude and actions during games. He's a very "strategically" emotional player. The man is no dummy...he knows when he wants to get a rise or reaction out of the people around him. I can't think of too may, if any, off field moments that make me dislike him, but I can think of plenty on the field. At the same time, they make me also appreciate him as a player.

I don't recall any hatred toward him or issues while in Minnesota although I definitely could be wrong since I focus more on the National League. The first issue(s) I can remember were with his teammates in SF and it seems that those were just blown out of proportion.

I know the white sox fans used to hate him when he was a twin.

There was an MLB player poll when he first joined the White Sox. The question was which MLB player would you most like to see beaned in the head. AJ won by a landslide, beating out Barry Bonds for the top spot. I don't think the reports are that exaggerated if all of MLB can't stand him. He's a smart player and always seems to be in the right spot at the right time, but he's by no means a well liked guy in MLB.

I think he kicked the trainer in the nuts while in SF.

Was that ever confirmed? I recall SF reporters saying it happened during spring training, but I don't think anyone actually ever went on record including anyone from the Giants. That story just seems strange because I would think it would have blown up into a much larger situation whether it be lawsuit(s) or a suspension for AJ. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but the details seem a bit murky.

Unless its post game comments such as - Dempster bested again, we just have to tip our caps and go get tomorrow - what the White Sox say is immaterial.

CSN: After the game the White Sox had a rap on the radio playing featuring Lee Elia's famous rant about Cub fans.

I read that the Sox draped a big "L" flag over a counter after Friday's game. I try to be objective, but the White Sox have to be #1 in lacking class.

Does anyone know why we don't use any of their traditions against them in the same manner as them draping the L flag?

Because they have no traditions.

I guess we could run onto the field and try to beat up the umpire or first base coach. Or we could accuse them of cheating. Those seem to be the only White Sox traditions I can think of.

And I've always been amazed the Sox never got in the market of selling the blue "L" flags after the "W" flags starting appearing. For a team that hates the Cubs as much as they do, it seems like a no-brainer.
