Not like its anything nobody expected, but good luck to the Brewers when the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, Angels, Mets, Philles, Mariners, Dodgers, and maybe even the Cubs and White Sox dog pile on him as soon as eligible. Dont count the Astros and Cardinals out either. Hes 3 healthy, productive months away from Zambrano money.

Don't count out the Rangers either. Nolan Ryan will make a big play for a pitcher this winter I believe.

Given his injury history, I think Sheets is taking a significant risk by not even listening if the Crew makes an offer. Not that the Brewers will make an offer -- but he said even if they did he wouldn't listen.

Anyway, I'm sure the Brewers feel they have enough coming up to replace him.

I just want him out of the Central. As much as I want him off the Brewers, I might rather him stay than go to the Cards or Astros.

That's a good point. If we can't make a play for him (probably unlikely), I'd rather see him leave the division, definitely.

Cardinals don't pay for pitchers they sign the ones no one wants and then have them dominate. I could see Astros making a play because they need to and Nolan will want a pitcher but I just don't see it. They took on a big contract last year with Tejada and have Lee/Berkman getting bad well too. They have seen Oswalt fall of the Earth and I don't see the owner okaying them to spend a lot of money on a pitcher with an injury history.

I suppose if we were to get an owner with deep pockets who wanted to win more than anything, maybe we could. Now if only such a man was interested in aquiring the Cubs...

Sheets is a player that I have trouble rooting against. He played here at UL-Monroe and his wife is from the area. I'd love to be able to root for him rather than have a bittersweet taste every time he pitches well.

If he's not going to be a Cub, I'd like him to go to the Rangers or at least the American League.

Also, even if Sheets suffers an injury this year, unless it is something that impacts his health for next year, he'll still get a big contract. His ability when he is healthy will be too much for teams to pass up.

I almost wonder if CC will wait till after he signs to sort of set the market value for him. Thats assuming he stays healthy. He just comes across to me as someone who would like to be close to home, thats another reason I put the Rangers in there.

Given the history of pitchers in Texas, I'd be willing to lay down a bet that Sheets will never pitch an inning for the Texas Rangers.

Ben does live in the Dallas area in the off season. I would love for Ben to come back next season but not with his injury history, I don't blame the Brewers for not offering him a contract.

He also seems to have the ability to come right off the DL ready to pitch well. Seems like he just got back, and it was really only what -- 1 shaky start before he hit a groove? Maybe 2? That's not too bad at all. Some guys will take a month of starts, or more. Some guys if you bring them back in mid August you can pretty much write off the rest of the season as extended rehab, at the expense of runs given up.

I admit, like some other posters on this thread, I also like Sheets.
