Forgive me if it was already discussed, but did anybody see that wrestler (I forget what country and weight class) accept the bronze medal then walk off the podium before the remaining medals were distributed and toss his medal on the floor? WHAT A LOSER!!!

[small rant] And, I wish more coverage was given to sports like wrestling and the weightlifting. Mabye they are and I'm just missing it. I've tried to record as much of the Olympics as possible, but the DVR is close to maxed out. Frankly, I'm tired of the Phelps story and beach volleyball. [/small rant]

Medal Count 29-27 on China.

Sucks they have to cheat at basically everything to win.

communists never lose.

It's too bad the college kids protesting in Tiananmen Square didn't know that before they were run over by tanks.

i'm glad this deserved two responses.

Make it three. Any reason to quote Winston Churchill is a valid one.

It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.

The biggest argument against democracy is a five minute discussion with the average voter.

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of misery.

At least one (if not more) of the China gymnasts was under 16, the minimum age for the event.

The IOC relies on the international federations, who are exclusively responsible for the eligibility of athletes. It's not the task of the IOC to check every one of the 10,000 athletes."

that's pretty pathetic. the IOC doesn't rely on international federations to do their own drug testing, because it would be too easy for them to sweep positive results under the rug. plus, there is now significant evidence that the chinese are knowingly breaking the rules and using athletes in competition based on falsified documents.

this should be investigated and the chinese should be stripped of the gold medal, but this is happening in china so nothing is going to happen.

Exactly. There's way too much money to be made in that country. The most that would happen is that they'd close the loophole for future games, and ignore this one.

My guess is that if anything happens, it happens AFTER the games are over. The IOC will not disrespect China in front of their entire nation, in spite of the fact that someone needs to be made an example of so this doesn't happen again. And again. And again.

I can see waiting until after the games are over, but if there's definite proof the IOC really HAS to strip the Chinese of their medal. Rules are rules, and they have to be enforced consistently rather than selectively. Too bad if it reflects poorly on the Chinese; it should since they're the cheats.

And apparently Lochte, his teammate, has a very good chance to take this one.

Guess I'd still be happy for an American winning, but it would suck.

Aren't the Chinese still insisting that the original news story referring to He as 14 was a typo?

Perhaps I'm missing something, but it seems like they still have some degree of plausible deniability.

Now, don't get me wrong, I fully believe they are lying and that their government is willingly participating in this fraud by falsifying the necessary documents. But short of finding a definitive document showing the girl's actual age, I don't see any medals being revoked or anything like that.

In all my years, I never, ever, ever would have guessed Canada produced a guy named Keith Beavers.

You beat me to it. A dude named Beavers with shaved pits.

Phelps is amazing. I mean, not even close.

Dude is a freak.

I am not even beginning to even suggest he's not 100 percent clean, but I find it strange that if just about anyone else was this dominant in their sport, steroid rumors would follow them forever. I've not heard a whisper of that with Phelps.

I'm positive he's clean though, and he's just a genetic freak of nature.
