Actually now that I think about it, Arizona getting in is one of the biggest NCAA selection screw jobs that I've seen since Air Force a few years back

Yeah, except for basically the complete opposite reasons. By selecting Arizona, the committee went against everything they've been saying the past decade.

Yeah, I should have added that. That's exactly why I think so. There are worse teams to get in then Arizona (barely) but the reasoning is pathetic and disgraceful. If Michigan didn't get in because of that, I'd be really really upset at the NCAA

I think a team like San Diego State has a right to be pissed about that.

it's as good a year as any to just pick the four #1's

The odds are good that last year was a much better year to pick the four #1s.

Okay, now that we know the match ups, let's talk about what's really important. What is the announcing schedule?

We'll find out shortly, but I'd bet anything on one of the showcase teams going to Greensboro.

Gus Johnson will probably end up in Portland, where there are two 5/12 and 4/13 games each, hence more potential for upsets.

Yeah Derwood that doesn't make sense. It never happened until last year, and this year there was so much debate over who would be #1 seeds, probably 6-7 teams had a legitimate claim for a 1 seed. 3 of the #1 seeds are in the same conference, so who knows how good they are against teams from other conferences who play different styles. One of the number 1 seeds lost one of their key players for the year and hasn't looked like the same team since. 3 of the 4 teams have taken turns losing immediately after becoming #1 in the polls. I think 2 of the number 2 seeds, Duke and Oklahoma are more talented than 2 of the number 1 seeds UConn and Louisville. This is actually a really poor year to just pick the four number 1's.

Notre Dame played six games against the four #1 seeds (playing all four), plus 2 against 3 seeds. Even with everything else that went wrong, they might have been close to the bubble if Mike Brey could game the system correctly and play a bunch of 170 RPI teams in nonleague play instead of the 250 or worse that we routinely do.

Why? Arizona beat them this year head-to-head.

I don't believe I've ever had a year where I had such a hard time finding a 3 seed or lower that I think can make it to the Final Four.

Missouri has the best chance of any of them in my opinion. This stinks.

First run through, I came up with Michigan State over UNC, with UConn and Nova rounding out the final 4. I also had Cleveland State, Temple, and Cal as upset 2nd weekend teams.

I want to pick Villanova to go deep but I think the UCLA game is about as much of a toss-up as you can have in a 3-6.

I can't talk myself into picking anything but 1's and 2's. And I hate taking the chalk.

Interesting, I had the same Final Four. I have Temple, Miss St, and Arizona as bigger upsets. I'm strongly considering picking Temple over Cuse in the 2nd round as well.

Anyone know what time they usually announce the times for the first round games?

Usually later tonight.

Does anyone have a link for what site each set of games is played at?

The bracket on NCAA.com has the site next to each pod.

And I am strongly considering VCU over UCLA. I don't think UCLA has a chance against Nova in Philadelphia, especially with Collison playing injured.

Yeah I forgot about the Philly angle. UCLA was so good offensively, they've got a lot of experience and I think a lot of Howland. I just think it's a tough enough matchup to make me hesitant to pick Villanova to go really deep.

I have Nova in the Elite 8 and thought harder about having them knock off Pitt (my champ) than any other matchup for the Panthers.

western kentucky lost to the university of denver 74-48. we better not lose.

They also beat Louisville by 14.

and the week before, they lost to murray state by 30. this is a game that illinois should win by a comfortable margin, but stranger things have happened and i'm not too impressed with the illini this year, so whatever.
