I'm stunned that the SEC homer snapped because I asked if they were worse than the Pac 10. Odd that Raisin didn't snap at the question.

 

And body of work my ass, I spend so much time arguing against the SEC because of people like Hosak and RedFlash who feel Sylvester Croom is at worst the 12th best coach in college football.

 

Was that question about which conference was worse really that hateful? This was coming from a guy who thought the Big Ten was as awful as its ever been heading into this season. I have all of 4 Big Ten teams making the tourney.

Don't you know we should just sit back and take it when the talking heads at ESPN slam our conference? It has nothing to do with the fact that we have our own network and thus ESPN can't sign us to a contract deal so they feel no need to pump us up as we will never be on one of their Big Monday or ACC Wednesday lineups. I just find it laughable that everyone gets in on ripping on our conference, but then is suprised when we get proud when we do better than expected. Especially when I am on a board full of Cubs' fans.

Actually, it is your body of work. Not so much in basketball season, but during football season, your conference inferiority complex shows. And I know that some of it has to do with SEC homers. I'm just not sure how I qualify as one. I am not going to brag on Florida and LSU dominating Ohio State, because I don't like FLorida or LSU, and Tennessee does not look any better for having lost to them. You can bitch about SEC homers all you want (it's a bit hypocritical, all things considered, but whatever...) but you might want to be sure of who you're bitching about before you go off blindly accusing people of things that are untrue.

 

And, for the record, I will not hesitate to admit that the SEC is down in basketball. Not for a second. But, I don't care, because Tennessee is in the midst of its best run in basketball ever. (Now you can mock Tennessee over Sweet 16 losses... that's fine because it's true.) Kentucky sucks, and I hope they lose to every team they play. It does not embarrass me one bit that they lost to VMI this year, or Gardner Webb, Houston, San Diego, and UAB last year. Why should it? Tennessee didn't lose to them. If Florida plays for a National title in football, I'm not going to cheer for the conference, because the conference isn't playing. Florida is (or Alabama, or whomever for the sake of this argument), and I hate them. So, why should I cheer for them?

 

You can call me alot of things, but SEC homer is not one. And don't, for one second, place responsibility on me for your inferiority complex.

YMMV on the first 2 paragraphs, so fine, I don't see how I'm any bigger a Big 10 homer, than you are SEC, but I can't think of many arguments that would be less compelling to read.

 

This looks to me to trace back to me calling the SEC total ass last year. It was total ass. I'm pretty sure it is this year too. I also went out of my way to say Tennessee was a damn good team last year.(And they're pretty damn good this year too, though likely a smidge overrated) The SEC was the best conference in football last year. It's probably the 2nd best conference in football this year(though I don't have them particularly close to the Big XII) SEC fans are a minority around these parts because it's a Cubs board, yet EVERYONE hates them. It's not because we don't like people talking about non-Big Ten schools.

 

Raisin posts box scores of UCLA's women's field hockey championship. Andy wouldn't shut up about Ball St. even when they were terrible. Soccer10k is still fighting the good fight with UC Davis, Truffle with Holy Cross, etc. etc, Oklahoma, Kansas, incessant shameful talk about Mizzou. But nobody hates any of these conferences. Nobody feels the need to crow about these because these people are generally sane fans of their team.

I don't think anyone actually can use that service. I know Comcast won't allow me to.

This is why I was listening to Illinois on the radio last night. Not all ISPs carry 360, it's a ISP by ISP basis. I searched most of the game looking for a stream and found nothing.

Yeah I couldn't get the game last night, but my parents did. They live about a mile and a half from me. But, tonight my cable provider has the Illinois-Vandy game on.

Without a doubt. He's deferring and trying to be a team guy but he should be the #1 option, not the #3 option. Bruins played well in the first half yesterday when Holiday controlled the ball way more and was able to exploit the 1-3-1.

Incidentally, on the other side of the spectrum, only 3 games into the season, there are already 4 conferences in which none of the teams are undefeated, and one conference (SWAC) in which none of the teams have a D-1 victory (Prairie View beat a bad DII team by 50, but the rest of the conference is 0-24 otherwise).
