Bozich looks way worse than Weber in that story. Total asshat.

Yeah, Bozich is a fool and a joke of a journalist. He reminds me of a poor man's Mariotti.

Weber has his faults, but it was an off the cuff comment made at an Illini event and was in response to a question about how the Big Ten will stack up this year. I have absolutely no problem with it. He said his own team sucked last year. It's really only being blown out of proportion because it's June and there is not much else to talk about.

The Big XII North is going to be...not good next year. It's probably the best year for KU to be rebuilding, though.

I really hope Anderson and McDermott can start retaining their good players. Mizzou was pretty good when I was in college thousands of years ago, and that rivalry was so fun. I'd like to get back to that.

I've heard some good things about the six freshman coming in. It'll be interesting to see if they can start rebuilding the program since theyll all be together for so long. However, I won't be surprised if Anderson isn't around to see them graduate. He needs to make the postseason (even NIT) sometime within the next two years or he's probably gone.

I am not sure how good the South will be either. Texas will still be solid, but not near as good as last season.

Texas, OU, and Baylor will all be pretty good, IMO. Not title contenders, but ranked teams, unless they've lost players and I forgot. I can't remember who aTm lost and who they have coming in. Nebraska has a shot at being ok in the North.

OU has been getting a lot of top-10 love this preseason. Willie Warren, Blake Griffin and Tony Crocker is a pretty good threesome, along with that UCLA bigman transfer whose name I can never remember (ryan wright?). The timing is right for us to make a deep run in the big 12.

Yeah, I'd be pretty surprised if you guys didn't win it this year. The only reason you might not is you guys have the significantly tougher South schedule. If Self gets the baby Jayhawks in order and can rack up wins vs the North, we have an outside chance.

I'm excited either way because for the first time since the Hollis Price years, OU fans are discussing basketball and football. It's been lonely the last few years with no one giving a damn about the program.

IU athletic director resigning

He will not be missed.

It looks like IU could be screwed for years over the Sampson mess. The NCAA is going after the program for not fulfilling their promise to monitor Sampson's calls (remember when he was first hired he wasn't allowed to do any recruiting but they changed it just not allowing him to go on visits since he was at a different program who had a good history of following the rules). This would me the program would get sanctions and probably more than just minor ones because they didn't do their job (and Greenspan resigning is a very bad sign of the program's hands being dirty). It could blow over, IU could lose scholarships, IU could be banned from post season play for awhile or a combo on the last two. It will be interesting to see what happens and if it gets ugly whether Crean jumps ship at some point.

From what I have read, Samspon pretty much threw IU under the bus. Saying they new what he was doing all along. Yeah Kelvin as an adult you shouldn't be responsible for your own actions. Were I the NCAA I would fine him too, hopefully $1m worth to make him lose his parting severance. Comes in to one of the top 5 programs of all time and proceeds to just railroad it. What an ehtical guy he is.

We're going to be not so good next year, but I love the class we have coming in thus far for 09!

He's gonna get show-caused, I'm sure, but he's really getting off easy.

it probably won't be that bad. georgia had some incredibly egregious violations under jim harrick, and they basically got a slap on the wrist. alabama football might've deserved the death penalty after the albert means scandal, and they got off relatively light (despite their bitching that the punishment was too severe). i don't see the NCAA coming down too hard on one of their most prestigious basketball programs.

Keon Lawrence is leaving Mizzou. Too bad. He had talent but he seemed like a headcase. Now we'll have even more freshman next year.

That's too bad. Keon was easy to root for, but he had some issues this past year that rattled him, not the least of which was his brother being shot and killed. For Mizzou, that means a newcomer is guaranteed to start next year, with Lyons, Carroll, Matt Lawrence, and Tiller being the only returning players.

This is a lot of ifs, but if Lawrence returns to 06-07 form, Lyons can consistently play like he did towards the end of the year, and Carroll becomes as good as advertised, it could be a really fun team to watch. Tiller is a solid player too, he's perhaps my favorite on the team. The team won't be great regardless, but I'm just hoping they aren't intolerable to watch this year. I didn't even go to a game last year.

Edit: I also hope to see a lot of Justin Safford this year. I liked what I saw from him.

Will that be part pf the Big XII/Pac-10 Throwdown or whatever the hell it's called, or is this separate?

Regardless, that's good news. I'd love to get UK, Duke, or UNC regularly on the schedule, too.

Not sure, it could be since the UCLA-Texas home-and-home for the Big XII-Pac 10 ends this coming season.

KUSports.com[/url]"]• KU vs UCLA?: Adam Zagoria of zagsblog.net writes that KU will begin a home-and-home series with UCLA in 2009-10.

KU senior associate athletic director Larry Keating, who is charge of the Jayhawks’ scheduling, said if that series happens, it’d be part of the Big 12/Pac 10 Hardwood Challenge series.

“We’d like to play them,” Keating said of the Bruins. “We’ve talked in general about it with them in the past. We play Arizona this year (in the challenge) and will get a new opponent the following year (in Challenge). The schools talk, the leagues talk, and TV is involved (in making attractive matchups).”

I foresee a Raisin/Snood man-date to Pauly coming up. I'll try not to gloat too much when we win.
