Remember when Jim Hendry was deemed by us fans to have screwed up for not getting Mike Lowell? Good times.

According to BP, Mike Lowell is the player most comparable to A-Ram. Ramirez, however, is four years younger and came way cheaper.

Interesting note. As good as Aramis has been, if he put up the same numbers all year, this would be his 2nd worst OPS as a Cub. Right between his .913 of '06 and .915 of '07.

yet he's also on pace to have his highest VORP and highest EqA in a cub uniform, which is a lesson on how overrated OPS is as a statistic.

As flawed as OPS is, I really really wish the hobgoblins at ESPN would ditch their lovefest over BA and RBI and adopted it. Its not the best thing, but its easier for people to accept and easily use. Its not a bad bench mark.

But this situation shows its flaws. I'd much much much much rather have a player with a .400 OBP and .500 SLG then a player with .350 OBP and .550 SLG, though both would be very valuable players.

I don't want to jinx this but theres something that happens to Aramis every year that keep him from having the best season of his career.

he got hurt last year and still had the best season of his career.

How was his 2007 better than his 2004? You could even make a pretty good case for his 2005 or 2006 being better than his 2007. Not complaining, just saying. I think 2004 was certainly his best season.

you're forgetting something important...

Saw this jersey at the game the other day, thought it was hilarious.

I love you ARam.

I love the fact that you are good for .300 and 30-plus ding-dongs every year.

I love the fact that you told the media yesterday that you and Lee need to step it up to help the team.

I love the fact that you delivered and then some: As I write this you hit two HR's against the Sox yesterday - including the most dramatic Cubs HR in some time - and have an RBI single and three-run-jack in today's second game.

I love your steady play at 3B, which is deserving of far more recognition then it gets.

I love the fact that you lost 20-plus lbs during the last offseason and are in the best shape of your career.

I love the fact that you are maintaining a .400 OBP .

I love the fact that you are slugging .500-plus.

If I may be so bold, "Te amo muchísimo, Aramis".

Aramis has been my favorite Cub for quite some time. He's a professional hitter, the guy rakes every year and there is not another Cub who I feel as confident in coming to the plate in clutch situations.

Aramis' biggest motivation is to keep showing that sniveling poor excuse for a columnist, Barry Rozner, that he is in fact an awesome player.

At least that's what I tell myself to make myself smile.

Keep it up, Aramis.

What he said.

The lazy so and so does it again. He didn't even sprint around the bases on that HR. The tip of the cap was done with the least amount of effort possible.

If he hustled he'd be hitting well over .500 in close and late situations instead of hitting a measly .419. The gall of A-Ram!

he must have found himself a massive slumpbuster the other day. its too bad we are heading into the all star break. although maybe he hits the gw hr in the all star game which might be the clutchiest of all things clutch.

Was at the game today with a good friend, and we both were completely baffled by the Giants walking Lee to get to Aramis. It was obvious that wasn't going to end well for them.
