Why not Fontenot at 2nd and DeRosa in Left. At least a little more experience against Burnett. If a bullpen right is brought in then maybe use Patterson. Patterson has not looked good yet is his small samples in the bigs.

 

His minor league numbers aren't horrible, but they don't project to anything special either.

 

I could care less about his minor league numbers. He's no Longoria or Bruce, no reasons to expect him to come up and have an immediate impact starting in his first two games up. He looks terrible, and is the type of player I'd expect to get a starting chance on the Pirates or Nationals, not the Cubs.

 

I hope I'm wrong and he hits a 3 run jack to take the lead later this game, but I won't count on it.

WEll that was a waste when we couldve have them batting for the next inning

 

this makes no sense..they had a chance to score AND they forced burnett to throw more pitches AND they may get another bat because of getting to the plate this inning.

Seriously, how is it a waste to have 2 guys on and your #4 hitter up. So he didn't come through. This lineup SHOULD be able to cause problems 1-9, but not with Patterson in there.

I missed the one bad inning while driving home from dinner, but Gallagher has looked pretty.

I suppose that one tool telling him to kill himself got him in line.

nice job sean. hopefully he can give us one more and we can get some runs here.

 

I would probably pull him now. The 3 hitters up next inning have gotten on base 4 times out of 6 against Sean, and he's at 97 pitches. No need for him to go a long outing tonight against hitters he's struggled against with a rested bullpen, especially when you only really want him to throw 15 more pitches at the most.
