Keepers for 2008

I saw that fantasy sign ups are open on Yahoo now so I figured we might as well get the preliminary stages of this rolling, too. Are we still going with 3 keepers? If so, these are my keepers.

There had been some discussion as to whether we should go to 4 keepers, or maybe let the champion keep a 4th player, although not much consensus. What do we think? I don't really have a preference, although like IMB brought up when he pitched the idea, having some motivation to be the champion seems like a good idea.

I'd really like to let the champ keep a 4th guy, but if anyone else has a better idea, let me know.

I don't think giving the champ a 4th keeper would do the league any good in the long run. They are theoretically already the best team and allowing them a fourth keeper would just give them a big advantage.

 

If you really want the winner to get something I would be fine with everyone throwing in $10 and winner takes all. Although I think we talked about money and mostly everyone was opposed.

Yeah, that extra player is a big difference. Maybe moving the champion up to the top of the draft order?

I like having a fourth keeper for everyone, but I'd also like to see a rule limiting keeping a player past three years. It would throw some fresh players into the talent pool from time to time.

 

I'm in favor of playing for cash if anyone else agrees.

4 Keepers works for me. I don't mind the 3 year keeper period either, but I'd point out that there probably aren't a ton of guys in the NFL who are keepers that long.

 

I'd prefer not to play for cash.

I don't really understand the logic behind purposely making the best team in the league better by giving them either an extra keeper or the first pick. I mean, the league is just for fun, and their reward is "bragging rights" or the satisfaction of knowing they were the best team in the league or whatever. The only thing I think makes sense is money. I wouldn't mind putting in $10 or so, but I think that would have to be a unanimous decision as we can't really force people that are already in the league to pay. Anyway, I like the idea of polls.
