RHP Billy Muldowney promoted from Peoria to Daytona. RHP Alberto Cabrera called up from extended spring training (if he ever made it that far) and RHP Kevin Kreier bumped up to Peoria's rotation. Probables will be up around 10 am ET tomorrow morning, I'm too tired now.

Hill will hopefully get a chance to get on the mound today. Of course, he hasn't pitched since last Friday, thanks to a day off right before his turn and the rainout yesterday.....so, he'll probably have control problems. YAY!

God has a sense of humor. Cubs probably have a strong shot at the playoffs this year, but the future keeps getting dimmer.

Nice. Muldowney needed to get back on track and it's good to see him moved up.

Also, Iowa LHP Randy Keisler was granted free agency after opting out of his contract (he had a clause that allowed him to do that after a certain number of starts).

Right, last start aside, Muldowney was ready to go up once his arm was up to speed. I was hoping that Mark Pawelek would get the call to Peoria's rotation after pitching well in Mesa, rather than seeing him go back to Boise yet again. Granted Kreier hasn't done a thing to not deserve the chance (though I'd still prefer Cabrera starting).

good third inning for hill, imo. seemed like he was throwing more strikes than he did the first two innings. gave up a run, but it was unearned.

i'll leave the batter-by-batter to raisin, but had patterson made a good relay throw on the 6-4 fc, he would have escaped a bases loaded, no outs inning unscathed.

Lol Chris Lubanksi.

Deemed a wasted pick shortly after the Royals drafted him, but at least he made it to AAA

It's mental, it has to be.

The Cubs pulled him early in games at the beginning of the year to keep him from getting smashed and then they sent him to AAA to work on his mechanics and he struggled and then got hurt. I don't buy a lot of the amateur psychology that goes around, but I can't understand how a guy could totally lose his mechanics so quick.

The Cubs seem to think that he's fragile and everything that's happened so far points that way.

I hope he gets it back.

Rich Hill's bottom of the 5th inning:

Billy Butler walks.

Ryan Shealy called out on strikes. One out.

Jason Smith called out on strikes. Two outs.

Damon Hollins grounds out, 5-3. Three outs.

5 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 5 K/7 BB, 6 GO-4 FO, 98 pitches (51 strikes)

I would think that's his final line.

Hey, the only 1 hit he gave up was a bunt single. :|

Only one hit allowed, 5 strikeouts in 5 innings, no earned runs allowed, but 7 walks. Good, good, good, very very bad.

If Hill can just avoid getting totally destroyed in AAA, I got to think he would still be a valuable trading chip at the deadline. Some team will still view him as a top pitching prospect and think they can turn him around. His walk totals this year are very disturbing.

YUSUF Carter has two 3-run HRs. Ryan Harvey also hit a solo shot.
