The good news: The Rays are losing, we could have sole possession of the best record in baseball by the end of the night.

The bad news: The stupid White Sox are the ones beating them.

Again, is anyone alarmed that the Cubs walk rate has dropped quite a bit in the past couple of weeks? This was supposed to be the reason why our offense was doing so well. Was it a fluke?

I'm pretty sure the last couple of weeks is the fluke.

So what is DeRosa hitting with RISP?

Seriously he has been awful.

How many times do you have to ask the same question and get an answer before you stop asking it? Jesus Lord.

it was a fluke in that it was ridiculously high (on pace for like 950 walks or something absurd). the patience has not been bad in the past couple of weeks, just not quite as crazy as it was to start the year.

I hope so....but some of these players don't have the track record of being high OBP guys.

DeRosa, Cedeno, Theriot and Ramirez aren't .380-.400 OBP guys in their careers

Fukudome and Soto are too inexperienced at MLB to know whether their OBPs are flukes, but I have noticed Soto being less selective lately and his OBP has fallen a bit (independant of his BA)

Lee is actually below his usual OBP level, and as we all know Soriano doesn't have the best OBP skills.

Ramirez's patience has been pretty consistent.

I'll agree with Soto, although his 9th inning AB last night was solid

I actually think Soriano's been more patient recently as well

Exactly. The Cubs are still on pace to beat the franchise record for walks by about 60 walks if I remember right. They were never going to keep the walk pace they had in the first couple weeks for any more than a short stretch.

There you go OMC, the QB backups being mentioned by Len

Should have also mentioned that he hit .402 in 150+ games as a freshman in college. That's just sick.

Marquis is giving up a run here. The dude just hates having leads. We are better off going to the bullpen after grabbing a lead.

Marquis pisses me off whatever he does, just looking at him out there...I would trade him and Theriot for a new plasma tv for the clubhouse
