So what is DeRosa hitting with RISP?

Seriously he has been awful.

Saying it over and over won't make it true.

the foes list was made for CubsGM

Don't know why I didn't do that sooner.

Again, is anyone alarmed that the Cubs walk rate has dropped quite a bit in the past couple of weeks? This was supposed to be the reason why our offense was doing so well. Was it a fluke?

I'm pretty sure the last couple of weeks is the fluke.

I hope so....but some of these players don't have the track record of being high OBP guys.

DeRosa, Cedeno, Theriot and Ramirez aren't .380-.400 OBP guys in their careers

Fukudome and Soto are too inexperienced at MLB to know whether their OBPs are flukes, but I have noticed Soto being less selective lately and his OBP has fallen a bit (independant of his BA)

Lee is actually below his usual OBP level, and as we all know Soriano doesn't have the best OBP skills.

the cubs were on pace for 780 walks at the end of april... the red sox led all of baseball in walks last year, and they were about 100 less than that figure.

their pace this month is for 640 walks in a 162 game season.

their pace the past 14 days is for about 550 walks in a 162 game season.

the pace of like 800 or 900 walks that they were on early this year was unsustainable. the scouting report got out, and pitchers are going to attack the cubs' hitters more since they're now looking to get on base via the walk more than they have done in previous years. the players are still showing good selectivity and are working deep counts, and the cubs are still on track to be one of the 3 or 4 most patient teams in the league. no need to worry.

Marquis pisses me off whatever he does, just looking at him out there...I would trade him and Theriot for a new plasma tv for the clubhouse

When I was in Miami last year I stayed at the same hotel as the Cubs. A lot of the players and coaches were walking around. I was all excited and then I saw Marquis walking towards me and I immediately got pissed off.

How did that stay in? Damnit

Wind blowing straight in now.

It hurt us there, but with a lead and Marquis on the mound, it's probably for the best that it keeps blowing in.

I hate to say it, but I think Soto is on a bit of a cold streak.

Listen pal, talking bad about Soto is like talking bad about Castro in Cuba.

You better destroy that post or expect a few bricks through your windows. I'm just sayin...
