I'm so sick of everybody saying "but we're 10 games over .500 and in first place!" and acting as though this team is great.

This team has some serious problems that are eventually going to come to the surface.

Starting pitching and what else? Inconsistent hitting?

Yes. I'm not completely sold on the bullpen either.

our pitching is dismal.....despite our ERA rankings....our pitchers arent very good.

The back end of our rotation is mediocre. The rest of our pitching is stellar.

We have a #1 pitcher.....and four #5's..........Dempster and Lilly are #3's at best, and this season Dempster is overachieving, while Lilly isn't looking so good....I don't trust EITHER in the playoffs.

It's one thing to be annoyed by this game and say things like "The Cubs offense has had a horrible approach against Chacon" or something like that.

To extrapolate this into baseball's best offense being horrible is just making yourselves look dumb.

I may have worded it wrong.....on their best day Lilly and Dempster are #3's.....but in reality, our entire staff is comprised of #5 pitchers.....with the exception of Zambrano.

I hope you don't really think Lilly is a #5 pitcher. That's just ridiculous.

Lilly is not a number five, his atrocious start to the season aside. If your number five is as good as Lilly, you likely have the best starting staff in baseball.

Dempster is an enigma. I don't expect him to stay this good, but so far, he's been a perfect number two.

So far this year.....he hasn't been very good. In the playoffs he was garbage. I have zero confidence in Lilly.

You are wrong, and you aren't even in the same state as correct. Ted Lilly has put up an ERA+ above 100 in five of the last six seasons, usually over 115. That isn't a No. 3 starter in any way, shape, or form.

The rotation is a concern without Hill, but let's not hysterically overstate.

He had a rough start and a bad playoff game and he's a #5? He's been just fine his last several starts and all of last season.
