Just a heads up- Jon Lester is no hitting the Royals with 1 out in the 7th at Fenway.

97 pitches through 7 - needs some quick innings.

How many did Buchholtz throw last year?

115

He's still got some pitches to work with, but not by much. The Red Sox are adamant about pitch counts.

Kind of, but not really. They do a lot of testing with each individual pitcher that, AFAIK, no other team does. Will Carroll has written about it.

Seems something bad always happens when I switch to the ESPN broadcast. It's CSN for me from now on.

You can congratulate me on that DP ball. I switched back to Comcast.

I just got home and watched the previews on mlb.com and what did you guys think of the edmonds catch? I don't feel like going back and trying to find it, but i'm guessing most of you guys called it a typical edmonds catch where he dogs it to make it look better than it really was. Am i right?

I really hope Lester doesn't throw the no-hitter. It will overshadow Edmonds and Soto.

It's already overshadowed them, it's espn, red sox and yankees are the only two teams who exist

Nope, we called it the great catch it was.

Rather odd to have Lilly hit for himself just to let him pitch to one more batter :?

Why? It keeps the hottest hitter in baseball hitting from his "weaker" side while saving the one lefty reliever for another point in the game.

I suppose Lilly's success against Berkman tonight was enough to warrant the move. I didn't say it was a dumb move by any means, I was more questioning why not leave him in until someone reaches.

And now he is an inning away from a QS.

TAKE HIM OUT!!!!1111
