Dempster going to pitch the 9th. It's ok, though, because he's done it before.

It's kind of ok because he's an older pitcher who will be a free agent this year and probably get a huge contract. If they insist on treating guys like this I'd rather it be somebody like Dempster than a 22-year old.

Aren't we going to keep starting Dempster? Then why let him go above 100 pitches? He's looked more vulnerable the last 2 innings. What's the point? Will anyone remember his 'complete game' next week?

I will. If not soley due to that comment.

What has to happen to make this a save situation? Just curious. I can't remember if it's just enough baserunners to make it a 3 run game (save situation) or if the tying run actually has to be at the plate...

When did the Pirates learn to play baseball? I'm starting to think we might not sweep them this weekend.

Cards coming back to to earth

Eh, if Izzy weren't so crappy, they'd be on their way to another win. He's cost them quite a few.

Tying run in the on-deck circle. If another batter reaches it would be a save spot for Kerry.

I believe you have to face a better that could "hypothetically" be the tying run.

yeah, i'm not too worried about dempster's arm falling off. though i'm more worried at this point then i was at the beginning of the season. he's been pretty good so far.

ATTN: Lou Piniella

You are not Dusty Baker. Stop trying to kill our starting pitchers.

I'm not all that worried about 31 year olds. The PC thing is a lot bigger with younger pitchers.

That said, I could go either way on letting Dempster stay in.

It's only May. We need his arm down the stretch and I don't want to see him tire when July comes around because Lou keeps trotting him out there for 100+ pitches.
