Is that Edmonds standing next to Z??

They are new best friends, didn't you hear?

Has anything been said of their relationship?

Len said Z talked to him and apologized for the 2004 incident.

1) Edmonds is not better than Reed Johnson or Felix Pie.

2) Hendry and Piniella are treating him like he is.

3) Admittedly extremely small sample size, but Edmonds is on his way to proving #1 is true.

I think Hendry and Piniella get their share of the blame.

When the opposing pitcher is right-handed, I question half of No. 1.

Cedeno walks.

I weep at how good this team might be if they weren't constantly trying to avoid playing their best players.

It's really hard to say that when Theriot is doing what he's doing.

Even if Cedeno were playing up to this point, I fail to see how he could be doing much better than Theriot has.

I'd rather play Cedeno, but at this point there's no way you can really say we'd be doing much better with him playing.

I wonder if both of their success isn't tied to great scouting and great coaching, combined with the drive of competing with each other and DeRosa.

Maybe I am reading too much into it, but something is drastically different from last year!

I love, love, love Theriot, but if they were both falling off different sides of the Sears tower tommorrow and I could only save one I think I would reach for Cedeno - defense and upside!

I won't deny there's biases...there absolutely are...but here's the problems:

1) Edmonds is not better than Reed Johnson or Felix Pie.

2) Hendry and Piniella are treating him like he is.

3) Admittedly extremely small sample size, but Edmonds is on his way to proving #1 is true.

In his small sample size, Edmonds is hitting .333/.333/.333/.667 . Not sure how that's necessarily proving anything about being better or worse than Reed Johnson or Felix Pie.

I'll rephrase. Edmonds is not better than a Johnson/Pie platoon.

Agreed. And it's not even remotely close.

I can't agree that Edmonds is worse than Johnson (not vs. RHP, which is when he'll be playing, at least)...despite his poor showing this year.

lol...fair enough. That's those biases I was mentioning. I was making a few assumptions about future performance...:)

Call up Hoffpauir (who's been raking ever since spring training) and start him in RF. Move Fukudome to CF. Problems solved.

Have we gotten to the point where we shouldn't be surprised that Dempster is pitching well? And an even bigger question, have we gotten to the point where Ryan Dempster can be considered a good starting pitcher?

A Johnson/Edmonds platoon might just be better than a Johnson/Pie platoon this year, though.

That doesn't mean I'd take the former over the latter all things considered, but I'm just sayin.

He's up to 56 IP with 22 runs allowed (15 earned, but a high UER total is a great sign of your stats making you look better than you are).

I think that's within the range of a very mediocre pitcher on a hot streak.

5 of those came in one game. That could just as easily be the fluke.

DEMPSTER!
