Activated LHP Scott Eyre from the 15-day disabled list; Optioned LHP Sean Marshall to Triple-A Iowa.

Personally, Id rather see Cotts up than Eyre. Maybe Marshall can prove himself in AAA, but with Lous mentality lately, it wont really matter.

Maybe he's just going down there to stretch out his arm?

But wait, we already have Hill down there...

But wait, we could have just left Gallagher down there since he was already stretched out...

But wait, all three of those options would be better in the rotation than Marquis and probably even Dempster...

I'm lost...

Thank goodness. I'd much, much rather have Marshall start at Iowa than waste away as the Cubs' LOOGY. And we all know that Marshall is not going to get a chance to start unless Lilly or Hill go down for an extended period of time.

I thought this wasn't supposed to happen until Saturday, though.

Holy crap, if they send Sean G. down AAA will have a damn nice rotation.

Better than what we have in the majors in '08 for now.

Fixed for ya.

I agree with LLF, Cotts has been piching real well at Iowa. Why not give him a shot?

There are rules about major league players and rehab assignments. Basically, they had to bring up Eyre pretty soon anyway or cut him.

He's also a veteran the Cubs invested a bad contract in, so rules or no rules, he was getting first dibs.

So he was the first guy to call it?

I hope Eyre can at worst be average and this will also help Marshall as well so he can do what he's suppose to do, start. Imagine if the Cubs released/traded both Marquis and Eyre in a couple of weeks?
