I still contend that the Brewers are a far greater threat than the Cards. But I'm rooting for Brewers to take 2 out of 3, cause I'm a little afraid Yost gets fired if the Brewers get swept this weekend. I'd like to get him a nice month or 2 of job security by beating the first place team.

This is the Cardinals, though, the same team we keep waiting to fall off and never does.

Last year they made a run, and we got worried... and then they did fall off.

In 03 we came in to September just about tied with them, and then almost swept a 5 game series with them, including an amazing comeback win that I was at.*

I was also at the game where Alou got shafted out of the go ahead double. I have yet to see a replay of it, but everyone who called someone at home at the time said the replays showed it fair.

*Nevermind the fact that I left the game after Drew's grand slam. Nobody needs to know about that.

Hendry should go get a good, consistent, ledgit starter..Im fine with the offense, but the back of our rotation blows and you never know whats going to happen that day..I think were one real good starter away from being the real deal.

The Brewers aren't all that good. 75-87 over their last 162, 15-19 pythagorean record this season. Dead .500 pythagorean record since beginning of last season.

I'd say your in the vast minority. I like it.

Come on. The song REALLY is terrible. I like it because of what I associate with it and it's cool hearing the entire crowd sing it, but the song is incredibly cheesy and bad.

Exactly. To me it epitomizes the eternally optimistic "lovable losers" tag. It's cute and cuddly and disgustingly bad.

Teddy has really mellowed out on giving up home runs to Chris Young

I've thought that since the season started.

Hoping the Jays and A's really start to suck but Harden and Burnett show themselves to be healthy till the trade deadline so that we can pick one of them up. Harden is due to come off the DL this weekend.

I know it's rolling the dice in terms of health, and Cubs fans are tired of that to be sure, but a Z, Harden 1,2 punch in the playoffs would be a thing of beauty. Especially with a good, patient offense.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you. Eternally optomistic and lovable losers have nothing to do with each other.

Harden has one of the best arms in baseball..When healthy..But he gets hurt every 2 weeks which is frustrating..But him on our team with this offense and if he could stay healthy would be amazing..I'm willing to take the chance on him because you don't see to many guys of his caliber..Hendry should go after him.

Nice, lets go Milwaukee.

I am going to be crazy to say this, but I still think of the Brewers as bigger threats than St. Louis. My best outcome would be the Cardinals to take 2 of 3.

I didn't say cheering.

Isn't it a 4 game set?

I think Zambrano, Hill and Lilly can be a very solid 1-3, and that Dempster may just be a very solid 4/5. Marshall or Gallagher may be able to eventually fill the other spot, with Lieber getting the occasional start against non LH heavy lineups.

I'm in no hurry to see him go after pitching. It's too darn expensive.

Blushing?

I looked at that for like 10 seconds before I posted it because I knew it didn't sound right..

Early-mid September actually. On September 6th they were one game out but then lost 9 in a row to fall 7 games back.

And, if I remember right, they were nowhere to be heard from for the first 5 months of the season, either. One hot streak inevitably brought them up with the head of the pack in a mediocre division.
