Len said Lou will probably go to 13 pitchers when Eyre comes back.

Compounding this idiocy, he will certainly demote Pie because of it.

Hopefully Pie's catch is the sort of thing that'll convince Lou to keep him on the roster.

13 pitchers?

I thought we only needed 6 --- the rotation and Marmol.

think how maddening it will be when marmol is still pitching too much and we have 7 other guys in the bullpen.

After Fontenot gave away the game tonight (both with his glove and on the bases) he MUST be benched in favor of Cedeno effecive tomorrow; it isn't even debatable.

And no, Lou, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT DEMOTING PIE AND GOING WITH 13 FRICKING PITCHERS!!!!!

If Lou manages to combine the Dustiness of late with some Yostiness, I might jump out the window

True story: I was in Cincinnati for the game tonight. A few hours before the game, me and some friends were downtown and we saw Lou and Sinatro out and about doing some shopping. One of my friends yelled to Lou and he turned and waved. As he was walking away I said, "Start Cedeno". If he would have just freaking listened to me, Fontenot wouldn't have cost us 4 runs tonight and we would have freaking won. Man, that was a heartbreaking game. It had some awesome moments though. Pie's catch was insane and both Dunn and Soto's hrs were absolutely crushed.

i wish that reporters would ask lou the tough questions.

"lou, why did you and larry tinker with rich hill's mechanics earlier this year?"

"lou, why did you say that you'd get cedeno in the lineup, and then not play him for several games in a row?"

"lou, what happened to the commitment to felix pie as the starting center fielder of this club? he started a few games and then has been getting starts very sparingly. Also, reed johnson hasn't hit much against right handed pitching over the past year-plus, what do you really lose by starting pie?"

i'm glad that reporters are telling us that pie might be headed to the minors soon, but i'd like to have someone call lou on these questionable decisions.

Are Hendry/Lou trying to win a championship for Iowa this year or something? Sending down Pie would be completely insane, especially if it's done to carry 13 pitchers.

If I see Fontenot starting while Cedeno sits the bench again, my freaking head is going to explode. I haven't gotten too worked up about the whole Theriot v. Cedeno thing because Theriot has been hitting well, but there is no reason to play Fontenot over Cedeno. None.

I also love (meaning hate) how the simplist solution to the rotation "issue" (inserting Gallagher) isn't even an option.

Jesus...

That's awesome!

Lou, a little bit of Dusy, a Little bit of Ned, and a whole bunch of over-managing.

Cub fever, catch it!

Maybe we should start calling him Lou Dustyost or Dusty Pinielyost.

I did, and I just threw it back out the aforementioned window

So lets see, Cedeno still hasnt started in over a week, yet we have a guy filling in for our injured 3rd baseman who is 1 for his last 17. Lets see if Cedeno can gain a start after Mike Fontenots night from hell.

Now there is talk of the Cubs sending down Pie so he can work on his mechanics that Lou has been working on. We already have a pitcher in AAA now who]s mechanics Lou and Larry worked on. Heres a suggestion you damn moron, leave the 2 kids alone and let them play through their struggles a little bit, instead of trying to fix stuff that has worked to a high level of success in the past.

Maybe they don't want Lou to yell at them?

I'm having difficulty accepting that Cedeno's getting no playtime in favor of Fontenot.

It's starting to drive me crazy. Can't take much more of this.

Lou? WTFH?

Lost in all this is DeRosa hitting the skids. This is would be a good time for him to step up and prove he's an everyday player.

1-17 not lost by me, but yet we cant get Cedeno in the lineup with our starting 3rd baseman out.

Who the heck is this Cedeno character and why does he like eating Pie on a Hill?

I mentioned DeRo's struggles in a game thread the other day, & someone had the gall to be sarcastic about it..

Oh, and I'm getting tired of Lou's tough guy routine... It might've worked 20+ years ago Lou, but not now. I fail to see how anyone is intimidated by this guy. Reporters should be asking him tough questions instead of the softballs he gets (for the most part) post-game...

He gets a pass...more so than Theriot if he went 1-17.

I think it's perfectly suitable to get a guy who is OPSing 1.047 on the season 7 plate appearances in 7 games, especially when there are slumping and injured players ahead of him on the depth chart.

So Lou pulls Rich Hill after walking 4 guys in 1 inning, but lets Leiber give up 4 Hr's in 1 inning, and continue to try to get thru the inning. Must be that veteran savvyness.

No defense in walks. Missals ain't good either but if you can't even throw a strike, you have problems.
