wait, people are wishing injury on theriot? that's unbelievable.

besides the fact that it's morally reprehensible, he's not having that bad of a year, although i wish he'd stop trying to inside-out everything when there's a runner on base.

I wish he'd stop doing all manner of stupid crap around 2nd base to keep costing the Cubs runs.

he's still having a pretty good year at the plate.

Take away his outs on the basepaths and caught stealings from his OBP and I wonder where he'd be.

It's funny, Theriot has become the player that stats massively overrate.

The Runs Created formula takes this all into account

Theriot is at #11 in MLB for SS in RC.

Bases loaded used to Wuertz' specialty, lets hope it still is.

I'm sticking my head out here right now and saying he comes through.

If Theriot were playing 2B and hitting 7th or 8th as he should be, there'd be much less venom at him. Unfortunately, he's not.

And the day Theriot actually decides where he bats before a game is the day I understand that kind of anger.

I don't agree with it either.

Another thing I don't agree with is Marshall being wasted away in this LOOGY role.

This game sucks! It's a shame anyone other then Marquis is pitching because we had a chance to win this game.

then you have to add his successes to his slg to be fair.

Not completely. Part of SLG's value is that it advances other runners. We'd have to add some weighted version.

and then you have to weight your obp because singles advance runners farther than walks. you see? there's a give and take to it all.

Jason Kendall is at least prime GIDP material, on the off chance the Cubs can turn it.

Piniella is really getting his just desserts with pen management tonight. Relievers do best when given their own inning, and mop-up men do not belong in close games.

and how exactly are they overrating him?

He's producing a lot more outs offensively than they imply.

Then you need to incorporate the times when he effectively gets a single on a hit-and-run, thereby advancing the runner further than he would if it were just a single.
