Hopefully Sorianos return gos as well as Camerons did. Probably not though.

Over/under on Little Lord Fotenot's pessimistic in-game comments for tomorrow night:

500 sound about right?

Dempsters pitching, so if the team comes to play, your safe with the under. The minute you see Wuertz buck toothed face though, you may want to make a quick change.

tough contest for Overreaction of the Game...

and they've broken it open. these brewers will be the end of us, they're too good.

... this team won't finish above .500

or

I suppose 3rd place wont be so bad.

I really hate this team.

The funny thing is that with this loss the cubs are 16-10 on the year. Last year threw MAY they were 22-29.

The Cubs simply cannot lose a 2nd straight home series to the Brewers. They MUST kick the crap out of Suppan tomorrow. The Cubs must win the next two.

I can live with this one as it seems the bullpen just needs to work out its early season kinks.

Cubs win the next 4, not sweeping the Brewers (natch) or the Cards but taking both series.

BOOK IT.

Id be more sold on taking 1 from the Brewers and sweeping the Cards. We seem to be at our best vs. them. Unless of course Cesar Izturis chooses to go buck wild on us.

well the offense did their job tonite.....if someone woulda told me the cubs woulda scored 7 runs in a game in which sheets started i would have definitely chalked up a win....cant do much when your pitching staff gives up 17 hits...outside of marmol and wood, the bullpen has been borderline horrendous.

and one more point....i know gagne is a righty and ward is a lefty, but hes now 0-11 in pinch hit ABs this year, and i think he still only has one hit overall on the season. he has looked pretty uncomfortable at the plate this season, so why not go to someone who has actually has been productive and coming up with big hits this yr like cedeno? and yea ward struck out on 3 pitches

Mizzou, you should start the next game thread.

Thoughts about this game:

-Marquis is horrible. Has he had a start all year where he didn't give up liners all over the place? Maybe his second start, I can't remember. You can't put someone in your rotation who goes 2-0 to EVERY hitter if you want to be a very good team.

-Sad to say, I don't think Hart is a major league pitcher right now. I don't blame Lou for putting him in the situation he did, although I couldn't believe no one was warming up in the 5th when the first 2 came on. In fact I don't think anyone started warming up until after the bases were loaded. It's a one run game Lou.

-The Brewers look awesome. I know this has been said a million times, but they managed to stay within 2 games of us despite everyone on their team hitting below their potential, without Cameron, and with Sheets or Gallardo not in the rotation at the same time. Meanwhile, the Cubs pitching has been mediocre, but their bats have been awesome and this is where we are at. If the Brewers stay healthy, I expect them to win the division by at least 5 games, assuming no moves are made at the deadline (and you know there will be, possibly by both sides. I expect the Brewers to make a big trade in July, Cubs better respond)

-That said, the Cubs will be alright. It's amazing they were able to walk what 8 times despite not getting very much solid contact on Sheets all night. If they can walk consistently, this is about as worse of a slump as you can get with this team. The key is, they are going to need to make a move for a #2/#3 starter if they want to keep up with the Brewers. I think the Brewers are a 95 win team, the Cubs a 90 win team right now.

Game over.

Season over.

Franchise over.

Please contract this team and just end it now.

Seriously. Just end it now.

Outside of Sheets/Gallardo, the Brewers don't have the pitching talent to win the division by 5 games (as of right now, neither does the Cubs). IMO, the Brewers bullpen will cost the Brewers alot of games this yr. The Brewers still look like a 85-87 win team, but a team the Cubs should outlast for the division.

Additionally the Brewers are pinning their hopes on Mark Prior North - Ben Sheets - we know how well that worked out for the Cubs staff in 2004-06. Those 7 BB's that Sheets issued Monday night have to worry the Brewers, remember when we thought Prior was "back" in '06 yet, he couldn't consistently find the strike zone?
