I am trying to gauge Forte's speed. He ran a 4.4 or something like that. What did Hester run? D. Manning? Forte is a solid pick, but from his combine video, I think running a little lower would be something he would work on. Solid day for the Bears though.

Manning was abit over 4.3 I think. Hester was at 4.45 (which was disappointing). Forte has good speed for a RB (4.46), not great speed. But he also has size. the thing I like about both Hester and Forte is their abilities to cut back at what seems like top speed.

edit: for reference on the importance of the 40 yrd in regards to RB, APeterson (Vikings) ran it at 4.55. Forte is BIGGER and FASTER the APETE. I am not saying he will be better, but in football those stats can be misleading.

Was Peterson injured when he ran that?

was he? I didnt know that, although I cant imagine why he would agree to running it if he was injured.

I have no idea if he was, I just thought he was faster than that. Didn't he get injured at the end of his last season though?

yes, and after some research, I found a 40 yrd of 4.4 from Wikianswers. Maybe IMB can chime in, I think he is the resident APETE expert....

A 4.5 is pretty fast for a powerback that can cut like AD does. Coming into OU the word was that he ran 4.4s in highschool and was putting up 4.3s at OU in preperation for the draft, but I take all of that crap with a grain or 10 of salt.

Regardless, he's fast now. Some of the bursts he put on this year were astonishing. But when Mark Anderson runs around the edge and you go through his hole, you can look pretty fast.

I'm trying to find a way to like the Cowboys second rounder, but I can't just yet.

Anyone explain to me why we'd trade Fasano and then take a TE in the second round.

He's a ridiculous athlete. Now that he can focus on football fulltime, he has the chance to turn into a real playmaker.

Thanks. I guess I just thought we needed a WR. I know they didn't want Manningham and that selecting Doucet or Caldwell could have been a reach. I just don't want to go into 2008 with just Crayton and a gimpy Glenn at WR along with TO.

he has the potential to be very very good (not Witten good), but he is still an Aggie so I doubt he is very smart. Probably would have been a 1st round pick next season. I agree though a WR would have been nice. Guess non of them are valued high enough to take in the 2nd round.

This is from an Aggies fan on a Cowboys board that I frequent.

As many of you know, I'm a senior this year at Texas A&M. I actually knew Bennett and hung out with him several times in college, and I'll start off by saying this: He is one of the best people and personalities you'll ever meet. Not only is extremely funny, but he was always the first guy to practice and the last guy to leave. He's a great guy to have in your locker room.

Now, onto his abilities. He is a freakish athlete. He was a second team all-state basketball player in HS if that tells you anything. At 6'7", he can jump out of the building. He is also an excellant blocker, in fact his best highlights in college were of him pancaking DEs and OLBs. The only knock on him is his speed, but he makes up for it with his great hands. Had he been in an offense where he was properly utilized (he played in an option offense at A&M), he would have likely been a first rounder. He also caught about half of his passes split out as a WR.

If the Panthers take a QB with their 4th pick of round 3 I can upgrade their draft from an F- to a D+.

Peterson ran 4.4 flat at last year's combine. 40 times are useful, but in football terms, raw 40 times aren't as important as a player's ability to reach and maintain that speed, especially while changing directions.

I'm starting to warm up to the pick, a little. I really like our first rounders, so if this guy can develop into a good blocker, end zone threat TE, I'll be happy. I still think we need another weapon at WR.

i thought hester ran like 4.5, but in shoes that didn't fit.

he's probably closer to 4.3, maybe faster.

Lions Matt Millen on LB Jordan Dixon

"You want him to get a little bigger, but that's usually what you get when you draft a kid out of college," Millen said. "I'd like to see him inside, but at the least he'll upgrade the special teams and will upgrade the depth all the way across. He's a bright kid, too. We'll have to get him a little bit bigger but he played a lot of football in a good conference against some outstanding people."

1. The dude is 6 foot 230. How much bigger is he going to get? Conner is 6'3 233.

2. You just drafted a 2nd round player and he NEEDS to start, not backup, not ST.

Jordan may turn out to be a good player, but when you say stupid things like this its hard to say it was well scripted.

Nope. Kevin Smith for Detroit.

NFL network released it. Much better coverage than ESPN. Mayock called about 90% of the picks yesterday. His rankings are nutty, but he knows his stuff.
