I think this was his 3rd blown save of the year (Fukudome, Corey Patterson, Bako/Edwin back to back)

Appreciate!

i find it worrisome that Weeks is hitting .176, Braun and Prince are hitting .222, Gagne is blowing save after save, they haven't had Gallardo until today and they're still 11-7.

And the Cubs haven't had constant good production from Soriano and ARam from the offensive standpoint, or consistant starting pitching from Lilly/Hill and Marquis, and yet the Cubs are 11-6, right now. The Brewers are playing despite a few key players are playing well, as are the Cubs. Should be a fun and nervewrecking race.

That 10th inning was just a total collapse for the Brewers. After the Reds handed them two runs on an error and WP, Gange gives up back to back homers to Edwin and Paul freakin' Bako. Then he walks Hatteberg, causing them to bring in Torres. After CP0for3 couldn't get a bunt down and whiffed at a pitch at his eyes, he gave up and infield hit to Phillips, and the game winning double to Griffey.

Thank God for Gagne.

So which NL Central manager is worse: Yost or Baker?

Holy snikes that's a tough question. I'd have to give it to Baker b/c of the love of the double switch.

If I had to choose one manager for one game of those two, it would be Dusty. If I had to pick one for 4 or 5 years, I would take Yost

IDK, Yost likes to double switch out his 2nd best hitter in Bruan, quite a bit. I have yet to see Baker double switch one of his better hitters. So, it's a tossup, but I go with Yost, atleast Baker can claim he has "TRACK RECORD" as a manager.

Yost did some wierd crap with bunts today.

He chose to have Weeks and Gallardo hit for themselves instead of bunting, and had Braun bunt in very similar situations. In fact, there was a guy on first in the top of the 8th, i think, with no outs and Gallardo up. He let Gallardo hit for himself, didn't bunt, and then he pulled Gallardo before he pitched another inning. It didn't make any sense.

Dusty did that all the time. Let the pitcher hit, then have him not even throw a pitch the next inning. Drove me insane.

He did that with Volquez a few days ago at Wrigley. The game was pretty much a blowout at the time, but I still didn't get it.

And you would think if Yost is going to have him hit, he'd be bunting. I guess not.

The Brewers currently have 14 pitchers on their active roster which means only 11 position players. Assuming that one is your backup catcher and you're not going to use him, that leaves only two reserves for the field.

And, IIRC, isn't Gallardo a decent hitter for a pitcher. Considering the circumstances Yost may have felt that it wasn't worth burning a pinch hitter if Gallardo was only slightly less likely to get a hit.

Of course, if the Brewers weren't [expletive] and weren't carrying 14 pitchers, they could have pinch hit for Gallardo and this wouldn't be an issue.

Today was more of the Brewers being Yosted than Gange being bad. Gagne saved 3 games in a row and Yost felt like he needed ERIC GAGNE (Mr. Injury Prone) to pitch for the 4th straight day, even tho we had Mota,Riske, Torres and Turnbow all ready. You guys are so lucky you don't have to deal with him everyday of your life. The dude has a 14 man pitching staff and still finds a way to mess it up... amazing

I am starting to wonder is the Brewers really are going to give us a run for our money. A lot of these guys just arent producing. Sure, we all pretty much know that Prince will end up picking it up, but guys like Braun, Weeks, and Hardy who are really struggling are not the kind of established players who you know for fact are going to pick up. Yes, they've been doing pretty good for themselves for the most part, but at this time, dont look like a major threat.

I can see what your saying, but as a Brewer fan I can say pretty easlily that Braun will be there when its all said and done. Hardy is starting to pick it up more (3-5 today). Weeks is well we will have to see. Plus we get Cameron back soon, who will become our best defensive player. Gallardo is back and pitched well today. And you forgot about Hart.

Harts the guy the need to be focusing on giving a big deal to.

Fielder is a Boras guy, and one of Boras' hottest clients at this time, with A-Rod and Beltran both locked in long term deals. I really cant see Boras' letting Fielder sign long term in Milwaukee.

I ont see Braun as a long term Brewer either. He needs to go to the AL where he can DH. If the Brewers were smart, they would move him for some top shelf pitching prospects, especially with Sheets likely on his way out of Milwaukee at the end of this season.

I have no idea how this turned into a "the brewers should sign" convo, but I will play.

The Brewers have offered Braun and Fielder long term contracts, both are pending, but I like the chances of the Brewers locking up Braun. Fielder on the other hand is a boars client, and he will be harder to lock up. Braun will be fine in left, he is already getting better than what he was day 1. And if Prince does walk we don't have to deal with that till after 2010.

I don't even really like 12 man staffs. A 14 man staff is completely insane.

Ned Yost is a dope. I haven't seen enough of Cecil Cooper or John Russell to know for sure, but it looks like they're dopes too. Our division may have the 4 worst managers in the majors in it.

Eric Gagne kicked my dog. And by kicked my dog I mean he made me lose my ERA and WHIP categories in Fantasy Baseball this week. Not that I care, my fantasy team's success comes in at a distant 2nd to the Cubs success.

Thanks for the helping us widen the gap for now, Eric

I know it's revisionist, but I honestly believe, the Brewers know Prince's future is NOT in Milwaukee. They are looking at getting alot of bang for the buck in terms of $$$ for his projected numbers, and in his WALK YR, they'll look to move him, for a boatload and continue on there way. I think this is the main reason why they drafted La Porta. In three yrs, La Porta should be ready to play for Milwaukee (rather it's at first, in LF with Braun moving to 1b), after they move Fielder, for major young talent. I know some will argue that they draft La Porta for trade value, but I believe they drafted him, knowing he'll be the replacement for Fielder in a few yrs.

14 pitchers is ridiculous.

The Brewers bench right now is Craig Counsell, Gabe Gross, and Mike Rivera. Wow. I'd pay good money to see a Brewers game go about 15 innings in the next few days.
