Mike Burns is scheduled to start for Iowa, and the Shark for Tennessee. MiLB.com doesn't et have the scheduled starters for Daytona or Peoria listed. I'll let Raisin do his thing and give the full rundowns.

Not related but Wade Davis is facing Clayton Kershaw tomorrow. You prob. won't see a better pitching matchup than that all year in the minors.

Oof, would love to be at that one...certainly trumps Volstad vs McGee from a few weeks ago which probably was the best pitching matchup of the year up till now.

I'm planning a trip to the booming metropolis of Zebulon, North Carolina to go Shark-watching. And I'm thinking of going again Monday night, since Veal is scheduled to start.

Probable Starters:

Peoria: RHP Dae-Eun Rhee (3-0, 0.56 ERA, 16 IP, 15 K/4 BB, .145 BAA)

Nope, LH Chris Siegfried. RH ALberto Cabrera tomorrow and then Rhee...we think.

Rhee has not pitched sense the 14th, so yesterday would have been the 5th day. If he does not start till tuesday like you say, that would be 8 days rest.

That is correct. And they are going to do that with him for a few times this year. He is in his 1st year as a pro, and they are going to limit his innings and skip a start here and there. He also had a little discomfort on the 14th and didn't throw for two days. But everything worked out with his arm for him to throw a pen yesterday and he should be ready to go Tuesday.

Tennessee up 1-0 after 6. Kyle Reynolds hit his first homer of the season for the only run in the game. More importantly, Samardzija with another great outing so far: 6 IP, 4 hits, 0 runs, 3 K's/0 BB's, 8 GO's/7 FO's.

So, much for that Jeff gave up a double, single and walk to start the 7th to leave the bases loaded. Juan Mateo could get nobody out and Tenn is down 4-1.

Demoted to AA already? Ouch.

Any updates on Peoria? I can't get MILB.com on my Blackberry! Thank godness for NSBB.com.

Peoria lost 2-0. Only Nate Samson and Marquez Smith were able to get hits. Josh Vitters went 0 for 3 with 3 K; Kyler Burke and Josh Donaldson each went 0 for 3 but didn't strike out. Chris Siegfried went 5 and gave up both runs.

Yeah, Juan Mateo was sent down to AA yesterday to add Randy Wells to the Iowa roster.

Tennessee fell 4-1. Worst thing about Mateo's outing was that he walked three batters. Colvin was 2/4 with his first stolen base of the season and two strikeouts.

Iowa lost 7-4. Cotts had another good relief outing: 2 1/3 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 K's/0 BBs, 1 GO/3 FO's. EPatt was 2/4 with a K.

I was at the Smokies game. As mentioned Samardz did very well through 6, but tired in the 7th. Even though he loaded the bases with none out none of the runs actually scored ff of him, even though they were charged to him. They all scored courtesy of Mateo. He walked the first batter he faced on 4 pitches to allow the first run to score. The next batter hit a grounder to him, which he threw to home for the force; therefore he had a chance to get out of the inning with a double play and only one run scoring. Unorunately, that wasn't to be. The next batter got a 2-run double, followed by walk #2 to load the bases again, followed by walk #3 (Maybin) to score another run. Exit Mateo, enter Roquet. Rocky got the next two batters without any more runs scoring, but Mateo pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up 1 hit and 3 walks.

The most interesting play was in the bottom of the 4th. Carolina had runners on 1st and 2nd (the only inning until the 7th that Shark allowed 2 runners to reach base). Harvey (they also have a Harvey) then got a hard hit down the left-field line, which was called fair. He reached 2nd, the runner on 2nd scored, and the runner on 1st was thrown out at the plate tring to score standing up. However, the Smokies immediately argued the call, the umpires conferred, and reversed the call to foul, so the runners returned to their bases and Harvey was still up. Two pitches later he hit into an inning-ending double play.
