Runner up in his second year at college, runner up in his second year in the NBA...poor Farmar. He'll always have the city championship at Taft HS (which is very impressive for a suburban HS to win in LA).

Woohoo! I haven't been paying attention much to this thread, but SSR, are you a fellow Celtics fan? People are congratulating you like you are.

Unrelated: what's with the hatred for Paul Pierce?

I am, I've suffered through 6 Bulls titles, and the Dino Radja and Rick Pitino eras.

This is awesome.

Hopefully he'll get his next year. :D

I'll certainly be rooting for it.

I'm happy for Pierce, who had a great great series. I really don't care that much about KG Ray Bourque-ing for his championship (yes, I know, unlike Ray, KG didn't actually want to leave).

That and he went to a team that had been crappy which I beleive Ray didn't.

And KG didn't play great in the finals but did his most important job. Rebound and play D. Kobe on the other hand was pretty bad especially the last three games.

Yeah, the Kobe/MJ thing is done and over. He wasn't good at all this series.

According to Wood Kobe is MJ right now.

Kobe is clearly not made of the same stuff MJ was. Micheal took a stranglehold on games when he needed to, while Kobe seemed content to pass the buck. Kobe may well be more talented than Jordan, but he really showed little of what made Jordan great in the finals.

Kobe's a great player. Great player. One of the greatest ever. But I question whether we'll ever see another MJ.

Accprdong to Hollinger's rating system DWade was better than MJ ever was in his finals against the Mavs. This is why I have a hard time buying into PER as the end all be all of rating performance.

LeBron is already what MJ was on offense he's pretty far off with the defense but at his age MJ was just coming out of college and LeBron will likely start playing more defense every year. And LeBron has had more team success than MJ had this many years into the league and both had no one to work with. If LeBron gets a Pippen we could see a dynasty.

Am I the only one who thinks LeBron is closer to Magic than Jordan?

LeBron is a much, much better scorer than Magic was. Magic's high ppg was 23.9 and LeBron has already bested that three times.

As far as the LeBron-Jordan comparison, LeBron isn't as good of a scorer as Jordan was. In his age 23 year, Jordan averaged 37.1 ppg while LeBron just averaged 30 this year. LeBron is a much better 3-point shooter at this point in his career (31.5 to 18.2), though Jordan did get a lot better. LeBron is averaging more assists than Jordan did at the same age and will likely be a better assist man for his career. Jordan's best year was 8 apg but he only had two more years over 6 (6.3 and 6.1). LeBron's already had four years with 6+ apg and his fifth year was at 5.9. If you want to look at PER, they're pretty close with Jordan at 29.8 and LeBron at 29.1.

I don't think LeBron will be as good of a pure scorer as Jordan was but he does have the ability to put his mark on a game just as much as Jordan did.

I'd actually say LeBron is a mix of Jordan and Magic.

Your last two sentences are what makes him so scary. He has the ability to set teammates up all game like Magic, then dominate the end like MJ.

Lebron will be fun to watch in New Jersey.

Neh, he'll stay. Cavs will have to make the sacrifices or else they'll go down in history with the worst gaff ever. It would be like the Bulls trading Jordan in the late '80s because they couldn't afford him. No way that happens.

Find the money, and pay the man. You don't ever give up a LeBron, period.

Finding the money isn't the problem. He couldn't get as much from New Jersey on a salary basis, but the endorsements going into the bigger market would more than make up the difference.

Cleveland has very little control on whether or not he stays.
