I didn't really care when he spoke out about it the first time or two, but this is a bit much. He has made it very clear to the media that he is unhappy about it, it doesn't seem necessary to keep saying it.

Either way, it pisses me off that Jim has created a distraction right before opening day. He should have grown a sack long ago and told the Orioles this is my offer, take it or leave it. For this to still be dragging on is pathetic.

He has a point. 2B was not a hole on this team last year. Derosa was one of the more productive players on the team, and the fact that they are concentrating on a 2B in a trade, when they have other bigger holes, doesn't make any sense.

Also, I don't get why we get so upset when a player states the obvious. The fact that they are rumored to be trying to replace him should piss him off. Not many people that are good at their jobs would appreciate their bosses actively seeking a replacement for them.

That doesn't mean he has to continously talk to the media about it. You want to voice your displeasure once or twice and let it be known how you feel? Fine, but I think he needs to shut his mouth now. What he's saying is true, but that doesn't mean he needs to say it over and over again.

He probably gets asked about it every chance the media gets. It's not like he goes to the media with an agenda to talk about it, I'm sure the media brings it up all the time.

Maybe if we don't play jerk around for 3 months on this we don't have a problem.

That's a bad quote, no way around it. But most players don't have to put up with this crap for this long either.

I agree with Mojo. You talk out of line on this team, you often get traded for peanuts. This has been fabulously handled. We can pay out the ass for Roberts, trade DeRosa for a 25 year old Low A pitcher, and not even have the greatness of the "improved bench" everyone was touting.

Letting this issue linger for this long (with this organization) was just asking for something bad to happen.

If I was DeRosa I would be upset about it also. How would you feel if you were DeRosa and the team is so close every other week to trading for a guy at your position, when you feel like you did well last year. And then you look to your right and you see Ryan Theriot playing everyday. I would not be happy either.

If you're upset, talk to Lou or Hendry, not the press. Be a man and grow up.

There it is - "be a man." Maybe my favorite cliche of any on this Board. Seems the list of Cubs that aren't manly never stops growing.

Ugh.

I think he meant "be a man" in the "be an adult" sense, not "be a tough guy."

While I think its a bit much, I can understand why. He earned the right to be pissed off with his play last year in my eyes. Besides, anyone would start to lose it if they spent the last 3 months wondering' if they're going to lose their job.

Its been said already and wonderfully ignored. It's hard to not talk about it when the press comes in and asks about these things. Despite what some write beat write they arent as dumb as they come off. I am sure that DeRo gets asked this in a leading way for the sixth time in a row and the frustration rolls over.

Good for DeRo not being quiet about it. About time we had somebody with some cohones. He is speaking the truth as he sees it. So far as I know this is still a free country.

I wouldn't handle things as well as DeRosa has about this. It's not just the Roberts thing. They've been trying to replace him all offseason, most times with inferior players.

And some grit, so he can finally wrestle Theriot's job away from him.

I don't think its the fact that Hendry is concentrating on 2B, its more of the best guy available right now happens to be a 2B and we dont already have an all-star there....if the best SS was available via trade dont you think hed be going after him?

it takes more than 1 team to trade.....but i will say this has gone on way too long...grow some balls and start giving ultimatums Hendry.....the Orioles dont want to pay his salary so put some pressure on them or tell em to get bent

Yes, and then Lou would move Theriot to 2B.

Yep. Communicate and have the guts to talk to your manager. Going through the press is like having your mommy or daddy solve your problems.

How can you be sure that he hasn't? Maybe he has and that's why answering a question when asked is not a big deal.
