The Giants have interest in Crede. The White Sox want to move Crede. Sounds like a match made in heaven, right?

One problem...

San Francisco, the most likely suitor for Crede, and the Sox have disparate evaluations that carry ramifications for both sides.

A talent evaluator familiar with both teams said the Sox were miffed the Giants' offers for Crede included since-released pitcher Scott Williamson; pitcher Randy Messenger, who was optioned to Triple-A Fresno last week; and veteran outfielder Dave Roberts.

The source said the Giants believe Sox general manager Ken Williams' asking price — one of the Giants' top prospects and a serviceable young reliever — was too steep for a 29-year-old infielder coming off season-ending back surgery.

I never liked the idea of trading Joe Crede because I think he's the best clutch hitter the White Sox have. I also hate the idea of trading the best defensive player on the team because management can't work and play well with the guy's agent.

That really is an amazing quote.

All I can do after reading that statement is  .

Rosenbloom is an idiot.

A lot of people involved with the Sox organization grossly overvalue Crede.

Last week, Terry Boers and Matt Abbatacola were talking about this and this exact quote was uttered:

"Hey Giants, bring Tim Lincecum to the table and then we'll talk."

I honestly don't know how people have jobs in sports/sports radio.

That was 100% tongue in cheeck, promise.

I think if you listened to Boers & Bernstein regularly, you'd be able to tell that was a joke.

Actually, no it wasn't. I listen to them on a decent basis, and they were actually being pretty serious. Bad.

I have heard White Sox fans mention him in the same category as Ramirez. It's amazing how much of his value is based off of 12 games in October.

Same category? I've seen many people select Crede in those "which Chicago player would you pick for each position" lists that come about everytime interleague play begins.

I've heard Cubs fans mention Ramirez in the same category as David Wright. Just goes to show you.

Speaking of knowing how to handle the media, Wright is a 10 at that.

Ramirez is much closer to Wright's category than Crede is to Ramirez's. Aramis and Wright are in the upper echelon of 3B. Wright is better, but Crede has no grounds for being anywhere near that list.

How well does Crede handle the press in Chicago? This always carries a lot of weight when it comes to overvaluing a player imo.

Chicago Tough.

I see. They put a man on first and we put one in the bleachers, that's the Chicago way.

I'd venture to guess that most White Sox fans think Crede is better when he's healthy.

I'd venture that those people are all idiots. Crede has no business being compared to Ramirez, ever.

What's even funnier is that Crede gets props for GRIT, but Ramirez plays hurt most of every season and gets ragged on for being soft. If only he could grow a mullet...
